We swung and missed. It is what it is. It's not like we weren't a part of the conversations.

I am genuinely happy that the organization was on the radar of the highest sought after free agents. It speaks well to the direction we're going as opposed to where we were going.

That being said as of now we'll be looking at 1st round exits unless we jump into the other bracket. I hope we trade Krug in a package for Panarin if he would resign here, but that's a pipe dream obviously.

we did get a 105 points with that defense last year. i like the fact dubas refuses to overpay for anything. hes taking his time and waiting for correct move. seeing what hes got. giving young guys an opportunity. hes totally right.

I think Panarin walks away from pretty much any team who trades for him.

I agree that he's waiting patiently at this time. He definitely doesn't have to make a move right now. However, many GMs have fallen into the trap of thinking they have lots of time and then get stuck having to deal from a position of desperation. I honestly like Yzerman, he makes moves when he sees the best opportunity and seems to do well in each one.

In addition, Dubas has done the right thing in my opinion. Let the vets walk and filling space around his core guys with prospects and seeing what he's got.

I wouldn't trade Nylander OR Reilly straight up for Karlsson, let alone adding 1st round picks and a good young player

based on his last 2-3 seasons and the fact that Gardiner is already a 50 point defenseman on the Leafs, Karlsson isnt worth either of those deals

Also, I wouldn't trade Reilly for Karlsson up straight, given Toronto needs shut down Dmen, not an upgraded Jake Gardiner.
