I’m intrigued as to how they get an extension done with Karlsson and then sign Kucherov long term. With Stamkos and Hedman already making 8+ long term that’s a lot of space on four players. - smellmyfinger
They'd have to basically give away a few guys, including one of Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat, and Alex Killorn. Next year they actually have some numbers coming off the books (Stralman, Coburn, Girardi), and they could buyout Calllahan if they can't unload him.
That McDonagh signing is gonna hurt. The signing would have been great 6 years ago, not so much nowadays. |

Sens fans: If Karlsson goes to TBL, Sergachev has to be involved
*trade goes through*
Sens fans: Who the hell is Kevin Lynch? |

Travis Yost just tweeted this: Something to note: Ryan Callahan's full no move clause became a limited no move clause this summer. Carries a $5.8mm cap hit for the next two seasons, but paid $4.7mm in real dollars - airjan23
I’ll take Cally.
Cally and Foote for their 2nd back |

I think they'd be moved in separate deals, why I said they'd have to basically give one or more of them away. |

Hedman-Karlsson
McDonagh-Sergachev

Pierre Dorion not gettin Sergachev back in a trade for Karlsson would be typical Senators move. |

Ottawa is almost at the point where the league needs to take over their front office and rescue them

I wish y'all would read the offer sheet rules - we wouldn't have these discussions all the time...
https://www.capfriendly.com/offer-sheet-calculator
Specially this part of it:
The AAV for an offer sheet, which determines the compensation required, is derived by dividing the total contract value amount by the lesser of:
number of years offered, or
five (5) years |

He will probably get 2 firsts, Koekkoek and Cal Foote back.
Is there any more tortured fan base in the NHL than the Sens? |

Not fair to drag down a young guy like Sergachev like that.
Look, I was a big McD fan despite him being a Ranger, and thought he deserved some Norris nominations. But he's had a pretty hard decline, more in terms of play on ice as opposed to offensive output, and I thought the Rangers were smart to move him when they did. |

In all seriousness tho, they have positioned themselves to do something like that with 5 firsts they just drafted and one more next year (you figure top 10 again). If any team could do it, it’s the Rangers. At some point they are gonna pounce and pounce hard on something humongous big |
