Bruce Garrioch of "The Ottawa Sun" had reported in part on July 4th, that "Karlsson had refused Ottawa's 8 year extension that MAY HAVE BEEN NORTH OF $80M reported to be on July 1st", and teams interested are aware that he is seeking an 8 year deal IN EXCESS of Doughty's $11M per, recently signed.

He added that with Vegas and Tampa having had trade discussions on him since prior to the February trade deadline, they are the two teams thought to have been given the right to speak to Karlsson's agents at "Newport Sports", with Tampa felt to have the best assets to offer in return.
That's why Ottawa was now willing to talk trade regarding E.K., both either with or without Bobby Ryan included in any potential deal. However, Vegas may still be willing to take on Ryan's $7.25M for its remaining 4 years, which is something that Tampa could not do without some assistance in moving cap space.

For all the talk of the NYR possibly being the 3rd team in the OTT/TB potential trade, I'm told the Devils have also been in the mix and may possibly be the 3rd team when all is said and done. Not set in stone, but NJ has been involved in these talks.

That must be to your liking very much so as a Devils troll, and why as opposed to the earlier reports of Kucherov becoming a Ranger if they are the third team involved, you would rather see the Rangers end up with bad contracts including Callahan's and Ryan's to tank the season just for you and your Devils.

But I do know that on the prior blog, I was the one who revealed that all this Karlsson talk would have never taken place, had Ottawa prior to the February trade deadline, had accepted some other prospect than Vegas's top one in #6 overall, 2017 drafted center, Cody Glass for one. Vegas made them a counter offer, in addition to taking on Bobby Ryan's full remaining contract, but broke off talks with Ottawa insisting that Glass be included in the trade. Glass had tallied over 100 points in a recent WHL season.

Nah, only one paragraph, Smelly. TJ doesn't need that long of a reason why as one or two others do here on Karlsson, especially the one that's infatuated day after day here in wanting Karlsson to become a Ranger, while they are under an unknown length rebuild plan.

That's the most recent news of a few days ago from David Schoen of the Las Vegas Review Journal, whose earlier articles on the Karlsson talk, I had already brought up here during the past few weeks. But his earlier news of Ottawa demanding Cody Glass as part of a pre deadline deal last February, was verified back then through sources in Canada, including the Ottawa Sun, which is where I have checked at times now location wise in key, since news broke Thursday with the Rangers possibly being the third team involved. David Schoen did not bring that up in this article, but did so I believe earlier at least in some means.

Who knows at this point. I’ve seen too many verified accounts being wrong tonight.
