JT leaving set this team back years from the mediocre spot it was in while he was here. Nobody likes to hear it, but this is the time to rebuild. Tear it down. Trade whatever vets you can for decent prospects/picks and let Lou build the team in his vision, let Trotz mold it in his vision. Younger players are easier to mold and build with than veterans. |

Tavares is not a superstar.. he is very good, but NOT a superstar..
Barzal, a ROOKIE outperformed him every night and had more points. - RagingMike
So.........................Barzal is a superstar? |

lol apparently any elite player that outscores another elite player nullifies the latter's elite status |

If a first is included in the return for EK it would make sense for Ott to trade him to a team like the Isles as it will be 25 spots better than if they ship him to TB or Vegas. |

I think Tavares screwed the team over. The team accommodated his request for no trade at the tdl last year. The guy's selfish for doing that. Isles deserved better.
Lou should get the goalchie and get a 3 way deal going where they get a young solid d man plus take on salary from whatever team is trying to get karlsson and take Bobby Ryan as well. The other team gets karlsson and give up the young dman and salary to the Isles. The Isles take on some salary in Bobby Ryan and Ottawa gives them a 2nd for doing so. Then the other team gets karlsson gives up pieces to Ottawa, plus the d man to Isles and Ottawa gives up a 2 nd plus ryan.in the end Isles lose a couple late round picks for their trouble and take on salary.. - kaptaan

Only 1 thing the team can do... hit the reset button on the rebuild. Only that now they have a competent head of hockey operations/GM if he chooses to stay at the helm, and a decent foundation to start from.
Going out trying to trade for big named players is pointless for this team. New Arena already on the way, take that time rebuild thru the draft the best ya can. Already off to a great start with this past one. Try to give Barzy and the rest some good UFA if ya can, just watch out on the years of the contracts being given. Lou should see if he can dupe anyone into giving a good return on Dal Colle. They got 2 years to get things right and get Sorokin to come over. Build for Belmont!!! Could all work out very well if they play their cards right. And if by some magical way they land Hughes next year. Safe to say this summer would turn right into a "JT who?" in the history books
Teams not in that bad of a state. Hopefully the Owners learned the point/lesson of this summer... set a competitive budget for on and off the ice, bring in the correct/respected people to run things, You pay for what you get. Don't ever be like, hand out contracts like or listen to Wang. Matter of fact call it the Wang safety code, If it's something he'd do... DON'T. |

The Sens would literally be better off letting Karlsson walk for nothing next offseason then doing this trade... but you do you. |

I've read that Karlsson and the Isles couldn't agree on an extension, so i'm not sure if he's going to the Islanders.
About Tampa, they can't do it. It won't work with their cap. - thejonathans
Sure they can. They just will have to sacrifice players in the trade and have to trade or not re-sign some guys in the future.

I kept hearing how much a team Karlsson gets traded to would have to give up. In Isles land it is being said whoever gets him has to take Bobby Ryan's contract. There is no team doing that unless Karlsson signs an extension as a sign and trade. |

So.........................Barzal is a superstar? - Kinger34
Dudes good and has a real promising career ahead of him. Lets see how he matches up against other teams top lines this year, and having all the pressure on him now as "their guy". I predict a slight decline in his production this upcoming season, but I'm sure he'll figure it out after that. He's got loads of talent. |

No doubt he's good. Buddy commented how Tavares wasn't a superstar because he got outscored by Barzal. |

This is a dumb bs blog about the Isles, they are as fukd as the Sens no matter
how you slice it. They acquired fillers after Tavares split. Each team is not fixable at this stage...trade or not. |

agree some good prospects coming....tank this year, get a high pick next year and start building from there. They'll be competitive in 2 or 3 years in their new building. - CaliNewf
Probably 4yrs before in a new building |
