If Ghost is that comparable to Karlsson, Has a better contract and is younger, WHY IN THE HELL ARE WE TRADING HIM FOR KARLSSON THEN ?
2 things...
1) If Dorion asked for Ghost, Konecny and a 1st I'd follow with, Who beside Karlsson are you sending back !
2) If you're willing to unload alot of talent on someone, WHY are you doing it for a defenseman and not a center or winger ? Defense isnt a hole like goal scoring is. Yes they signed JVR but I dont expect him to score 30 goals in a Flyers system. He played in an entirely different scheme in Toronto - twpguy
What's the difference between the Flyers scheme and Toronto's and please be specific on why JVR can't score 30 as a Flyer.
Couturier and Giroux did in the Flyers system.

No, Folin is the guy who you sign if you're looking for a RH 6/7 depth defenseman for a low cap hit and short term investment. - MJL
Who are we cutting/trading to make him 6/7 on our depth chart? I have him as 7/8. So as I said, the guy you sign if you aren't trying to get better.
Maybe we are missing something and he is teh replacement for Will O'Neill? |

I don't think people realize how little it matters that a defenseman can tally 60 points if he is consistently a minus player against good competition, and makes the players he is on the ice with statistically worse. Of the top defensemen in scoring, Tyson Barrie is the only other Dman who tallied more than 50% of their points on the PP. How many points could Provorov tally if he had a good partner and was on PP1? A LOT. The Flyers had a LOT of opportunities on the PP. Provorov could have been in the 70s easy, if they didn't need him so badly on the PK. Stats don't lie. Neither does film. - hockeyal
Provorov is not the PP defenseman that Gostisbehere is.

He'll score 30 goals if he's on PP1. I don't think Toronto's system is what made him good at scoring goals. - Feanor
I might be wrong, but I think I read that, while he minutes might have been somewhat sheltered, he led or was among team leaders in 5v5 scoring for Toronto.
If I could find the link, I'll post it...... |

And we know that how? By the minutes he had on PP1 when Ghost was out? Check the PP1 stats for those games again. Surprising. |

So then you agree, he is slotted as 7/8 depending on Myers. OK. |

We know that by watching both players play. Gostisbehere is one of the elite PP defenseman in the NHL. |

Folin's a logical pickup. RH, young-ish, cheap, and won't block Myers and/or Sanheim from getting meaningful minutes. |

A preview of Ronnie's face when Hak starts line-matching AMac-Folin against the other team's top lines (pan left for Sanheim and Myers eating popcorn):

Always kinda thought he might be a better player than he got credit for being
Not to make him sound like the second coming, but yeah. Okposo's a good player. Lee's pretty lethal around the net. Bailey's got some tools. But some of those other dudes definitely rode the gravy train in Long Island
He and Marner stay healthy all season, he might pop 45-50

I kind of looked at it as signing a cheap UFA for depth but also could be inserted into the lineup at a bottom pairing defensman. He hasn't been terrible. In Fact i wouldn't be surprised if there is a time Gudas sits and Folin plays. - J35Bacher
agreed on Gudas, at least now it cant be the reason to keep Gudas in the lineup. i sure hope Gudas sees it that way, maybe it will inspire him to play better. |

and this is true, not many D can make the moves with the puck like Ghost, Ghost also is usually as step ahead, his anticipation is really good on the O side and good on the D side. Karlsson has these abilities and is better. Ghost is a poor mans Karlsson, I am ok with that, move on and let someone else have him.

when you answer also recall that JVR was a 3rd line player with Toronto. I do believe he will consistently get top 6 minutes with the Flyers. |

Sounds like Tampa is going to make this happen. He makes a bit much, but how would Callahan look as a third line center for two years? He can kill penalties. |

No thanks. I think frost makes the team. If not I’m totally fine with rolling the lines as is with g taking center back. Players will be available in trade as well. Third line center isn’t an issue. It is... but isn’t at the same time. |
