Folin 1 year, 800k vs Manning 2 years, 2.25 per - five4fighting10
Exactly -- it's not that Manning can't play, shouldn't be on an NHL roster
You just can't overpay for his services. The teams that save one million here, 500K there, are the teams that can go big-game hunting every TDL and offseason

For the record: I think Karlsson goes to Tampa
I never get this stuff right, but I think the package is gonna look something like Cal Foote, Anthony Cirelli, Taylor Raddysh, a 2019 1st and a 2020 2nd |

What is Folin's "glue" level?
Also, do we have numbers of Folin's punches to the face/60? |

I do -- he's exactly the kind of piece the Flyers don't have: A fairly highly-regarded defense prospect whose pedigree and measurables are legit
I have no idea if Foote can actually play or not. But that's the piece you ask for if you're getting multiple pieces and you want it cost controlled for as long as possible

tampa has 4,446,220 cap space with 21 guys on the roster so they are going to have to open up some cap room. Next year they have to sign Kucherov and that is going to cost. they do open up cap space with the departure of Stralman, Coburn and Girardi. I imagine they can make it happen |

I'd think so -- they could move Killorn or Johnson without too much difficulty

If they are looking to get into an arms race with Toronto, I'm all for Tampa emptying their ammo can of prospects and picks on one guy.

It's tricky, because yeah, you gotta be careful
But they have enough to do Karlsson for seven years because Stamkos and Hedman are already signed for forever at reasonable rates for what they are as players
The real question is Kucherov. If he wants to be a problem to sign, then he can be -- he's a 10 million player, and TB's gonna have to decide whether or not they're gonna pay that. Yzerman hasn't had this kind of challenge yet. Hedman gave him a discount that Kucherov probably isn't

Exactly. Manning was best suited as a 7/8 guy on the depth chart. Either in the press box most nights or as an injury/illness plug-in. Needless to say, I'd much rather pay that role under 1 mil than over 2. Like you said, anywhere you can save is somewhere you can add later. |

Sergachev is the only defenseman in their top 6 without a NTC...doubt any of the other guys would waive to go to ottawa. Not saying it won't happen because of that, but seems like something that will need to be worked out |

They'd probably have to be moved in separate deals.

If they want to get Karlsson, they can and will. If the Flyers can improve their team in the meantime by buying low on a player, then why not do it? |

(frank) them. I'm not helping them add one of the best D men in the league to an already dangerous roster. If they can and will it would've happened already.
And no way Weal gets you Coburn. |

That's the point. They can't afford to add Karlsson without losing one of their 3 upcoming UFAs (Coburn, Girardi, Stralman) without taking much back.
And yes, since they have not acquired him as of this moment, you're right, there's no chance they will do so in the near future. |

Lol. They certainly might get him. I'm just not interested in giving them a hand. |

Folin is the guy you sign if you don't think the Flyers are good enough yet to win a playoff series. He might be an upgrade compared to Brandon Manning, but definitely not compared to Michael Del Zotto, or Calvin de Haan or even Toby Endstrom. He is a 6/7 guy on a team that needs a 1B/2A guy. It looks like the Flyers will commit to Ghost/Provy as their top pairing now, which means they are a fringe playoff team, that will pad stats against bad teams, or tired teams or teams that take the night off, but won't compete. Sad. |

Well yes, this would be worked out in tandem with them already having completed the trade.
The reason I ask is that there are reports out that NYR would be the team they would be moving an expiring UFA to, and I'd rather us buy low than the Rags. |

So adding a cheap UFA to be your spare defenseman is the tell-tale sign of a good team and a bad team??? |

It much more likely they don't want a long term contract with Myers and Morin working their way towards the NHL. |

I kind of looked at it as signing a cheap UFA for depth but also could be inserted into the lineup at a bottom pairing defensman. He hasn't been terrible. In Fact i wouldn't be surprised if there is a time Gudas sits and Folin plays. |
