Once Hagg is signed and Leier or whoever is replacing him is added to the roster they will still have around 10 million in cap space. Wonder what is the most cap space the Flyers have ever had going into a season not counting this season. |

The longer it takes to get a trade done, the less leverage the Sens have. Teams aren't going to throw away everything for one guy. The price will go down IMO.
Folin signing pretty much says all we need to about the chances EK comes here. |

Yes, I would love for the Flyers to acquire Johnny Gaudreau. |

No, but I can't imagine it's anything that will break the bank and I think he'd be a nice 6/7 guy over others they have had in the past |

675K. Relatively nothing.
He's definitely an upgrade on the Kurtis Foster/Carlo Coliacovo types. |

Folin out ankles Karlsson - Scoob
Having functional ankles in an overrated characteristic of a hockey player, much like +/-. |

I don't want Karlsson but if these are serious reports, I think you have include Ghost. Out of Provorov, Sanheim, Myers, Morin, Hagg and Ghost. I see Ghost being the first shoe to drop in the coming years anyway. He's the oldest. Would bring back the most value in a deal. Provorov and Sanheim's production should make up for Ghost's production. Ghost is average at best defensively. |

I agree with you in general. However, out of them all, the only two who have a proven track record at the NHL level are Provorov and Ghost. Sanheim and Myers should be good 2nd pairing types, Hagg had a decent rookie season, and if Morin csn stay healthy, he should be a very good shutdown type player.
I'm not disagreeing with you, just that I want to see a large sample of Sanheim and/or Myers at this level before I say they can replace what Ghost brings. |

Outpointed Karlsson last year?! You realize that Karlsson missed over a month of hockey coming back from major surgery and scored almost all of his 62 points in the last half of the season. Take off the blinders, no way would there ever be a straight up trade for Karlsson with the ghost. - jaz258
You know the orange Kool-Aid is flowing full force when people are only willing to give up some scraps for Karlsson |

No I meant it as Hextall is probably done shopping for defensemen. |

Liked the Folin signing -- just a depth guy, should be OK for the 30 or so games that he would play optimally
As for Karlsson: The Flyers could do it if they chose, which I said last year and got absolutely lambasted.
It's really two different conversations: Whether they can and whether they should.
We already know they can. Whether they should...I go back and forth. I'm not as wedded to prospects as some. It wouldn't bother me to move a couple of prospects, even good ones. The only one I wouldn't consider is probably Frost.
The problem is the roster player. They gotta ask for Ghost or Sanheim. You can't do Ghost and you probably shouldn't do Sanheim.
So in reality, there's really no deal to be made. I love Erik Karlsson and I do think he is one of the 3-5 best players in the sport.
But sometimes, you just don't line up right for a deal. The Flyers have many amazing pieces. But they just don't have enough high-end defensive depth in the prospect pool to make this particular move, which is fine. Just the way it is |
