You're a buzz kill, Bill...but I agree.

Personally, I wouldn't want to give up the Ghost. A still young, dynamic offensive force on a very cap friendly deal for an excellent, but damaged, d-man would be the first deal breaker for me.

As stated, it's not like EK tore a his ACL or had a sports hernia-like injury that will not impede his future production. The ankle will not grow back and the tendon will always be a problem. And will only get worse.

The assumptive 11mil AAV turns me away also. We have an excellent group of kids now as well as in the future who will need to be compensated. Even something in that that dollar neighborhood would have a negative trickle down effect throughout. Especially if Ryan has to be included, even with salary retention.

Not even to mention the present and future talent that would have to go back the other way. Paraphrasing Bill, one step forward, two steps back.

If Homer was still calling the shots, we'd have seen EK smiling in front of the Comcast cameras last week wearing orange and black. This type of acquisition would've be right in his wheelhouse. Thankfully (hopefully), Ron has learned from past mistakes.

Good depth signing. RH

Big guy, led LA in hits/game last year, played ~15 minutes/game mostly at ES.

Possible Gudas replacement? Or 7th D type?

That right there would be a deal breaker for me, even if somehow it could be worked out to be cap neutral. I have zero interest in that guy being on the Flyers.

Folin seems like he'll be taking the #7 spot vacated by Morin due to injury. The AAV is basically irrelevant since it's just a one year deal.

a team can retain up to 50% of the salary and cap hit (they have to be an equal percentage). can only be done twice for a contract

I don't see it as a Gudas replacement unless Hakstol felt there was some chemistry thing with Hagg and Gudas again

The Flyers haven't caught up to the league trend of releasing the AAV themselves, but it'll leak out soon enough.

The only chemistry that Gudas seemed to have with anyone was the opposition's point men.

edit: I expect Gudas to have a better year in some part due to just luck and regression to the mean, but also getting to play without Manning

Big, hits and right handed. I hope that gives Hak the flexibility to bench Gudas.

I also hope Gudas has a bounce back season.

I also hope Hak doesn’t use this to limit the younger D’s ice time.

Sean Couturier gets murdered by Gudas. Gets reincarnated, scores late game-winner followed by a 5-point game.

So I guess that we need to have Gudas ram himself into Coots' knees about once a week or so?

I see it like this. Flyers don't NEED Karlsson. Ottawa has lost leverage as he won't sign long term and he has a modified no trade. He could tell any team trying to trade for him he won't re sign trying to force his way to a place he wants to go.

I offer Laughton, Sanheim and 2019 1st. I would adjust the deal if I was able to get Anderson in the deal.

But I am not going overboard on a deal. If someone else wants to go big fine.

I think the Flyers were a team that tried to get him when he was a college free agent.

Depends. If they do think Myers is ready, they wouldn't want him as the #7, they'd want him playing. So if Folin is the #7, then they're unrelated. If he's a regular, then agreed.

I don't think that the Flyers feel Myers is ready, though.

Nah, I don't think that is true. I don't think they would let Myers be used as the 7th for longer than at least like...a month

I think it shows that Hextall didn't forget Will O'Neill playing in an NHL game last November when injuries struck the defense.

We already know not all of the Flyers dmen will be healthy at the start of the season because of Morin. Who knows who else will be hurt after training camp and eight preseason games.

I haven't seen enough of him to say either way. I'll wait till the rookie game to make a conclusion on his NHL future.
