He has made average wingers into multi millionaires. Tavares was never going to score more than he did based on what he had to work with. He's also a lot better than Sundin was.
- Mr_Smokey

You're very right and also very wrong.

Tavares has had some very bad linemates. But he is not a lot better than Sundin was. Sundin isn't getting the respect he deserves.

Why the hell are we talking about a faulk deal?
We need a good defensive dman....we already have a scoring dman

- Fakepartofme

Good offensive D-men are good defensive D-men.

Different era, hard to compare the two, but both have had a mixed bag of wingers in their career (and soon to be some good ones, in Tavares' case).

Don't worry, Winsie: I will find a way.

Also, Komarov is gone and JVR can't do his stupid move anymore.

What the hell am I going to be angry about?

- Atomic Wedgie

learn to hate on Marner... there's no good reason... but he's not a gud pro as of yet. and young enough that completely irrational hatred doesn't require any kind of argument...

besides, its unlikely Gardiner is traded before the beginning of the season.. so there's always him.

and Hymn - just because.

After getting dominated in the Hoffman trade, I would think he may change this approach.
- JSC

what does he have left to trade that could be considered an asset?

Go big or go home, Leafs should trade for E.Karlsson
- Symba007

nah... no need

wait for the Habs to realize how bad they are.. and then take Weber with 3 million retained off the Habs hands. He can come to Toronto play less minutes, paired with a younger guy who can skate and actually play...

and with some forwards who will play both directions

won't be continually compared to Subban.

will be interesting to see how that aging core handles the pressure in Mont Royal

Because he was traded?

Slavin - Hamilton
deHaan - Pesce
Fleury - Faulk
Bean - van Riemsdyk
Carrick - McKeown

Then we've got the unknowns like Adam Fox and the guy who captained his Swiss league team last year in Michael Fora

well, just like how Dougie Hamilton was suddenly lowsy when he left Boston, and Tavares is crap now that he left the Islanders...

you get the idea

UG, what was that you were saying about smoking your own hog while stroking down French and HOHO like a cross country skier and The Gull violating your hoop if Tavares scored a point per game this season?

I think he said if Tavares averages a point per game this upcoming season, will Hoho and the Gull be able to pig roast you.

Just a reminder that 7 years ago today, July 4th 2011, we traded Brett Lebda.
Also, Tavares is a Leaf

Mogilny on his last legs. Roberts on his last legs. Sundin routinely got 3rd liners or over the hill all-stars. Rarely, if ever, did Sundin have a player in his prime to play with. A disgusting waste of talent and time.
- Unholy_Goalie

This is absolutely true.
