True. We'll have to wait for Vegas to trade for him and then flip him for more value back to the Leafs. |

After getting dominated in the Hoffman trade, I would think he may change this approach. |

- senstroll
11 million is costly.
But he had 84 pts last year.
The isles could get kessel 4 million cheaper and had 92 points. |

He's 7th in points and 3rd in goals over those 6 seasons!
I know everyone hates the Leafs, but they are really grasping at straws here - BestRapperAlive
Tavares is top 5 in the league in goals since he came into the league. |

Tavares has the 9th highest cap percentage ever. Is he a top 10 player in the NHL? Probably not. But UFAs get overpaid, that's just the way it is, it's just a matter of how much and can you live with it. He's probably really worth 8 or 9 million but considering he's made every player around him better, you can have a 3rd line ELC player overachieve beside him and call it even. |

He's a consistent goal scorer but never scored 40, 50 or 60. He's a lot like Sundin in that regard. He's also never really had very good players to play with either so it wouldn't surprise me to see him bust open and score 50 one year with the right linemates. Tavares with Marner 5 on 5 and Matthews on the PP, you'd hope to have two 50 goal scorers together if everything goes perfectly. |

He has made average wingers into multi millionaires. Tavares was never going to score more than he did based on what he had to work with. He's also a lot better than Sundin was. |

Stupid list. A guy who has never played an NHL game is ranked 15.

That's certainly debatable. Sundin did the same with poop wingers for years and always scored 30-40 and 80 points. Sundin was also physically dominating. He didn't hit like Lindros but he always used his size to control the offensive zone. Sundin has a higher goal per game and point per game average and played 1,300+ games. It's a lot closer than you think. |

If he plays with Marner..he could get in the 45 range I have no doubt

@KPapetti
Here's a list of Tavares' most common linemates over the years. It's safe to say: he's a fun centre to play with.

And Marner could too. We're talking about a 20 year old kid who's already scoring 22 goals practically by himself. Natural progression should get him up to 30+ alone. Then Tavares on top of it could put him near 40. Will that happen next year? Maybe. But at some point over the next 7 years, all these guys will be in their prime at the same time. Like 3 or 4 years from now, it's going to be scary how much offense they could be producing. |

Sundin had the size aspect over Tavares, that's all.
Sundin not do for his scrub linemates what Tavares did for his. |
