That would be a bizarre rule if true. What good is a 3rd goalie with only one crease to fill?
I'm just hoping Lyon, Hart & Stolie stay healthy wherever they play. Lord knows you can't hang your hat on Neuvy's health. - hereticpride
From what I understand, it is true you can carry 3 goalies at the AHL level. Makes sense as long as they don’t have to clear waivers! |

Hart will get 50% the starts. They are not going to ruin his development for potential back ups. |

AHL teams are allowed three goalies.
Doesn't matter, because Stolie will never be 100% again, and is not an NHL goalie. Teams have film on him now, and the next time he got called up, it would not be pretty. He was outplayed by whoever he was paired with in the AHL. By the time he is healthy, Sandstrom will be knocking on the door Flyers should have moved on. It would not surprise me is a bottom tier team decided to take a flier on Lyon when he is put through waivers in October. Then the logjam will become a scramble to sign another depth goalie. - hockeyal
Teams have film on every NHL goalie. Doesn't matter. A team taking Lyon on waivers coming out of camp would need to keep him on the NHL roster. By that point, teams have their goalies set.

The Flyers don't NEED a 6/7 defender, or even another right handed defender. The problem with your proposed top six is that it would be a disaster on ice. It's not offensive skill or handedness that matters here, it fit, and pairings. We have seen that statistically Ghost-AMac is better than Ghost-anyone else, and Provy-AMac is better than Provy-anyone else and Sanheim-AMac is better than Sanheim-anyone else. If the plan is to make random pairings and hope for chemistry, its gonna be a long season. If the plan if to send out Ghost-Provy as teh #1 pair in 5v5 situations, its going to be a LONG season. The roster as it stands now is thin on forwards who can play defense. Its scary thin on defenders who can play 200ft hockey too, who would help to get the most out of a guy who can be a puck mover like Provy/Sanheim/Ghost. The Flyers could have had de Haan if they had offered four years which was totally reasonable, but Hextall flinched. Now, Carolina might have the best DEFENSE in the conference, and if the Flyers want a defender who is "better than they guys we have" they will have to give up an asset to get it.
If Hagg can raise his game, and play the solid defensive game he played in LV in 2016-17, then the Flyers could have two solid pairings, but they still will have to send out a rookie who isn't really ready in October, or we will see a LOT of Radko Gudas.
Maybe the Flyers can offer Toby Enstrom one or two years to stabilize the top 4? - hockeyal
De Haan was not the right fit for the Flyers and there is no reason why they should've even tried to sign the player to a 4 year deal worth almost 5M
Last season, Provorov and Gostisbehere made a strong defense pairing and it was the best pairing they had all season. All of the top 6 defenders scheduled to make the team are ready for the NHL. All the Flyers need is a depth defenseman, preferably RH signed on the cheap. |

Ghost should be reduced to a rarely used third pairing and PP specialist. Someone above actually thinks Morin will be pushing for a spot on the Flyers late in the season? Face it Morin is a bust. The chance that he ever plays any meaningful NHL time is very unlikely. Time to move on. |

I’m sure the GM is doing his due diligence in the event a deal for Karlson can be made at the right price. The likelihood of a trade coming together, I would imagine, is not great. |

I think he might be had for cheaper. Not many teams are in a position to offer the loot that they would want and the fact that Ottawa is in the position of trade him or lose him for nothing then they might not have the leverage they would like to have........never mind. This is the NHL and it will be a rediculas trade when it happens. Laugh out loud |
