rather have anderson or lehner instead of sparks/pickard/mcsavey backing up andersen.
out of the three above, i'd prefer to go w wedgie's friend - MaximusAurelius

I don't have alot of hope for sparks even though he's probably improved since he played those few games with the leafs. Pickard already proved to be a decent back up for the avs. Struggled when they pushed him as a starter on one of the worst teams in NHL history. Best you could hope for from Mac is he plays as good as last year. Lehner seems like a cancer. |

I think Jason Allison too. - Unholy_Goalie

They really don't. None of the 3 back-up options have proven they can play 25-30 games, give Andersen the rest he deserves more often and still get the Leafs the points they need. - Unholy_Goalie

Leafs can't be over the salary cap for the 2019/2020 season highly doubt they sign Marner and Matthews this season. - HealthyScratch6
Hainsey and Gardiner are off the books after this season. That's 7M total. Small example.
Anyways checked Cap Friendly and the space is there to do it this month which is good for everyone to feel good going forward.

Trouba or Myers might be the best target. Only team I can think of with an over abundance of RHD and lacking in the left side. |

McElhinney played very good last year and Babcock still didn't trust him enough to play him 25-30 games. And he had a career year. He's usually worse than that. And he's 35. They should sell high on McElhinney and selling high is still only a mid round pick at absolute best.
Pickard has been on a decline for awhile. Everything Sparks did this year, Lehner did as a 20 year old.
How exactly is Lehner a cancer? |

If the leafs sign a decent replacement for Gardiner on the second pairing to fill the spot untill Dermott is ready packaging him kapanen and a pick depending on who the Dman is. - HealthyScratch6

Leafs will want to leave some cap space available to potential pick up a Ufa at the deadline to make a run for it incase they are one of the top teams which is likely. |

If they go with the guys they have, Pickard would be my choice but he was an AHL back-up last year. And Lehner put up numbers like that last year but the year before he put up very good numbers on a bad team whereas Pickard couldn't. And Lehner has all the AHL accomplishments that Sparks has but he did it at 20. Lehner is like a combination of all of the Leafs current back-ups rolled into one. |

Name me one team that has won a Stanley cup without a norris trophy winning Stanley cup champ as their 4th dman and an all star as their backup goalie... don't worry I'll wait. |

Estephan played most of his career with the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
He was traded to the Swift Current Broncos at the deadline this year where he won a WHL Championship.
The "Lethbridge Broncos" you allege he played for haven't existed since 1986. |
