Hard to argue that. I'd like to see the team play as is before as well. But if you have a shot at a shut down future #1 like Parayko I don't think you can pass it up.

Why make it a larger deal? Assuming STL needs more depth on the wings, and the fact their D is shored up, I would think a 1 for 1 + picks would be okay.

Parayko is signed until 2021/22 at $5.5 and STL has about $9MM in cap space. Nylander won't get more than 6.5-7. It makes sense. The only question is which player is worth more imo?

I don't want to move Nylander either.. but as part of a deal for Paryako I would - but he's about the only RHD that I would consider moving Nylander for - all things considered age, deal, style of player etc.

I would rather move Gardiner for LHD - like Edmundson. Sell high on Gardiner before his contract demands turn him into JvR version 2.

Not really. Tavares was sold on playing with Marner from what I've read. Never anything about Nylander.

I think the team becomes way more balanced if you added Parayko at the cost of Nylander.

Not really. Tavares was sold on playing with Marner from what I've read. Never anything about Nylander.

Thats because nylander would stay with matthews. You remove nylander, marner may move to matthews.
We lost at lot of goals with bozak and jvr. Jt replaces some of that...but cant afford to lose nylander right now.
Lets first see how kap and johnsson do.

I honestly think Gardiner is going to be one of those guys who sees himself as 7M+ player... I don't dislike him... but recognize the "warts".

He's a rover.. not a real defenseman... in the traditional sense, can't really WANT to use him on the PK, and he can't reliably get the puck out of his own zone under pressure. As the league speeds up this will only become more of a problem.

Agreed on his deficiencies. I'm frankly over the flash and promise he shows sometimes, given that it's usually followed with a pizza through the middle of the ice.

If he thinks of himself as anything above $6MM I'd trade him now while we can still get a return.
