Leafs currently looking at 5 defenseman. Yes 5. Have touched base with CAR, STL, FLA, VAN and MIN. Faulk, Parayko, Petrovic, Tanev and Dumba. Parayko seens unlikely but the other 4 are very much in play. Leafs dangling: Gardiner/Brown/1st rounders/Leivo/Sparks/Pickard.

The Leafs added Marleau and Tavares the last two years.
Other than them, Hainsey was effective, just overused.
Zaitsev had a good first year, before last years debacle.
Borgman looked good, just couldn't fulfill a full season.

On the Marlies, Rosen.

Dubas is probably looking for an advanced stat D that is being overlooked or underused somewhere.

My question is why is STL already looking to peddle Parayko? He was the biggest thing 2 seasons ago?

Faulk is very much in play, but I think the asking price has been Nylander, because of the stupid Larsson/Hall trade, which is (frank)ing up the market until somebody sets a new precedent.

Faulk for Brown or Kapanen and some picks is probably where it needs to be, but might have to cough up a D prospect too like Rosen.

He's put up some pretty good points over the years on mediocre Carolina teams. Plus he's a RHD and has pretty good fancy stats.

I wouldn't give up Nylander though.
