I think on a 1 year deal, it's worth the risk to get a legit back-up for Andersen. He did way too much heavy lifting last year and with the defense unlikely to look much different, the more depth in net, the better. Just think of what happens to this team if Andersen goes down to a significant injury. Do you trust any goalie they have to fill the hole?

McElhinney played very good last year and Babcock still didn't trust him enough to play him 25-30 games. And he had a career year. He's usually worse than that. And he's 35. They should sell high on McElhinney and selling high is still only a mid round pick at absolute best.
