All true. I have no clue what they'll do with Baptiste and Bailey, especially if they don't have strong camps. I don't view either of them as top 6 prospects and it seems like they're quickly being passed by the next wave of prospects.

If Botterill is serious about Reinhart at center:

Sheary-Eichel-Thompson
Berglund-Mitts-Okposo
Erod-Reinhart-Baptiste
Bailey-Sobotka-Pominville

I don’t like Sam at center.

But if they truly think that’s where he will be the O’whiney trade makes even more sense

- sbroads24

I don't either. It sounds like Botts is ok with trying again

If the plan in 19-20 isn't Asplund + Malone as 3/4, I'd be shocked. Getting them each at least a half season in Rochester makes a lot of sense, but they both seem very close.

I think Thompson is about as fast as reinhart
- Shadman306

from what I've gathered, he's like a muscle car that take a bit to get rolling, but once he does he's moving...problem is, the nhl is a quicker league...and they'll jump on him early to keep him from motoring

He might be able to adapt better to center with less drugs and partying

Don’t think Sam at center makes any sense...

Jack
Casey
Aspland
Malone...

Pretty sure the top three are set in stone unless he is thinking ( which i’m Not a fan of this idea)

Jack
Casey
Sam
Rasmus.

Reinhart at center changes the dynamic of everything. And while Botterill may have an affinity for Pominville, Housley probably doesn't. If Thompson and Baptiste win the job, Pommer could end up as the extra forward
- jcragcrumple

not sure that would happen at a $5m cap-hit

Yeah, I don’t dislike either of them, but at this point how does anyone pencil them into the top 9 on an NHL team? They’ve done absolutely nothing to instill confidence there.

And I was a big Bailey fan for a while

- sbroads24

i'd rather see baptiste, Thompson or even bailey in a top-nine rw role than pommer

Depends on who the centers are IMO.

They aren’t going to put Mittelstadt with with unproven NHL players IMO.

I doubt Botterill would tell housley who to play based on pay. They buried Moulson who made the same salary. Botts would never do that, but I think Housley has control over the players given to him, and he's gonna ice what he sees as the best team. Maybe that still includes Pominville. I don't mind him on the third or 4th anyway

Pommer is the new Moulson. Lend him to the Depew Hornets.

I want to see Thompson in power skating school for the rest of the summer, with that and some bulk he should be a top 6 winger and produce nicely.

He certainly has the hands and the attitude to go right to the net

I agree. We need a lot of guys with potential to step up so it makes it hard on Botts and Housley to decide who stays up and who goes to Roch or keeps the pressbox warm.

Phyllis better make the most of training camp with his line juggling and experiments, because I fear that this team won't hit the ground running with all these new (better?) pieces.

Pominville is mostly worthless, but I suppose he can still put up 15 goals. Maybe they can get something for him at the deadline

that's why I thought, this early in july with three months to go, that having Berglund on one side and Okposo on the other might not be such a bad idea

one more year of him...maybe less if a playoff bound team thinks he'd be a good add with most of his salary paid
