Pierre Dorion chose Brady Tkachuk over Jack Hughes. Remember that. - FinnGod
Woofah. They made an awful trade that much worse and, if it’s even possible, made it even worserer (my word) by taking Tkachuk |

We are amused by your preoccupation with our thoughts. Perhaps you guys just need to lighten up and realize this is just hockey talk. As I said before I am sorry if I hurt your feelings. And, I am sorry if you feel abandoned because I left the forum thread.
But, once I decided I could no longer tolerate Melnyk's ownership I could no longer continue my dialogue with you in good faith. I hope you all enjoy your summer. - spatso
So do you admit your dishonesty?
Are you that ashamed of your past comments? |

No, he didn't. But he did choose Tkachuk over Zadina which may be bad enough. |

New york traded away their best defensman, and have shown they're committing to a rebuild. What happened five years ago isn't really relevant to what is going on today.
They missed the playoffs last year, and will in all likelihood be worse this year.
Lundqvist is great but getting older. It's just not a good fit for the Rangers. Stay the course and rebuild. - david22
As a Ranger fan I don’t want Karlsson for anything more then Hayes or Zibanejad and Sjkei. I’ll throw you a lotto protected 1st if I have to. With Ryan added obviously |

Hard for Ranger fans to do. New York loves their superstars almost as much as they love winning. Hard to resist a talent like Karlsson. Rangers could make a strong offer. I think it would be suicidal for them to do it. But, it is New York. Never have been able to figure out how a town that loves basketball like New York does could put their faith in one disappointing great hope after another. Even now some were hollering that the Knicks should be all in on LeBron. |

But....still think Zadina was the better pick. |

That low? Admittedly though, that may be WITH EK65 still on the team. If he's traded, which now seems likely, that probably increases. |

there is no way to quantify it yet. But based on that value, it would be placing Ottawa 9th in the draft lottery. I dont see 8 teams that might be worse than the Sens at this current moment |

Team could actually surprise. Dorion said the team will have a better result next year. I have my doubts.

Unlikely, but wasn't hossa-heatley a sign and trade? - david22
Not really.
Hossa was an RFA - was demanding big money. They avoided salary arbitration by signing him, then dealing him without his prior knowledge.
That's very different than the current fantasy of "hey Karlsson/Tavares, we know you want to leave, so please sign with us so we can trade you for more in exchange."

Something went very, very wrong on the Sweden trip.
I don't think the Sens are nearly as bad as their record was in 2017-18.
If that issue has been resolved, maybe they can be respectable this year. |

lack of depth and goaltending is what will make or break them. Condo is pretty terrible but if Anderson can bounce back from a sub 900 season to something respectable then they will be fine. But I dunno if I would rely on a 37 year coming off a career worse who apparently asked for a trade if rumours are correct. |

I think the exercise on Karlsson is very simple.
Las Vegas has offered Cody Glass and some other pieces. If nobody offers anything better than Cody Glass...that is the deal. I think Dorion takes the deal with the best prospect at the top of the offer. - spatso
Can you explain why any team who is aware of the tire fire that is called the Ottawa Senators would offer a top prospect knowing that in one year they could just sign him, or, give a lower value pick for his negotiation rights instead?

Or Ottawa does what they do best and totally butcher this and he walks as a UFA. - Blazed
As an Isles fan, and living in Ottawa, I hope this does not happen. Losing Tavares for nothing really hurts. At least we (the Isles) have pieces in place to overcome his loss...marginally lol. If the Sens let EK walk for nothing at the end of next season, it'll really hurt. I hope he's signed, or traded at the deadline.

Actually Anderson's agent insists he did not ask for a trade. And, if a trade is being considered all of it was initiated on the team side. This is the one factor that caused me to believe that the Sens might be talking to Sakic. If you are going to have a tank year the first thing you want to do is weaken your goaltending. |

Because teams want to win a Stanley Cup. They have a window of opportunity that shuts fast. They will deal prospects at the deadline for a shot at going deep in the playoffs. The team that deals for Karlsson is dealing for him on the assumption that an 8 year contract is on the books. |

Let me be clear, i don’t want Karlsson via trade, I want him as a UFA..but for arguments sake what would you want from the Rangers? Ryan kills the value of him by himself, hope you tealize that |

I personally think the return for Erik Karlsson will be extremely underwhelming when its all said and done be it to Tampa, Vegas, San Jose, insert team here. All the GMs know the situation that Ottawa has, I think its clear that Karlsson wants out and Ottawa have basically given him the leverage to choose his team by allowing him to negotiate contracts with interested teams. He can basically say I won't extend with team A, B, C but I will extend for team D. Then Ottawa will try to maximize their return with team D. Without a guarantee for a renewal most teams would rather wait until the trade deadline next year then trade for him now knowing he would go to FA but it seems Ottawa needs to make this move now and can't wait.
I would love him to come to Tampa but he would have to take a discount to do so, I personally don't think it will happen. But if his goal is to win the Bolts are his best chance to win now but he would need to shave 2M off his 11M asking price as thats the only way the Bolts could take him. The Bolts have the prospects to make a deal, the pipeline is deep.
Its going to be interesting no matter how it goes down.

It just makes too much sense for him to be traded to Colorado, which is why it won't happen. The pieces are there, how can you re-build without your own pick? |
