crazy, back in the day you could be captain one year, someone else the next

nowadays, if they yank the C from your jersey, 9 times out of 10 you are run out of town

I am by no means saying he will be Karlsson, but I think Risto's bad "numbers" are more due to the team than him.....

Karlsson
71 games 9 goals 53 assists 62 points, -25

Risto
73 games 6 goals 35 assists 41 points, -25

Again, not saying they are both elite (we know which one is), but both played on really bad teams. Those number both change / increase on a better team.

- Lilroot9

The team dynamic will heavily change this year. New numbers will trend for all the big players. Hopefully our possession rates go higher than 30 (frank)ing %. (exaggerating)

This will be the first year that Ristolainan will ever not be the #1 dman. I'll throw a few PassionBucks down on his possession rates and GF/GA rates improving.

What I would do to get my hands on Erik Karlsson!

1st RD pick from ST Louis and SJ,
Buffalo 2nd rd pick,
Nylander
McCabe
Girgs/Larsson

I don't even know if that gets it close!

It still amazes me that Vanek put up 56 points in only 14:23 of ice time.

Was there a better value last year in regards to vets?

I doubt it.

I had REALLY liked the idea of having him here as a 3LW this year. Now we have... Sobotka in that role.

Hell... you want a guy that can bury the dang puck on Jack or Casey's wing... I think he could certainly do that too.

He and Ott were rotating captains like Briere and Drury.

"By moving O’Reilly, it’s clear that a culture change is taking place within the Sabres locker room. What’s also clear is Botterill wants Ristolainen to be a part of that culture."

Yeah I don’t get that very much you say you want to get faster but you acquire those two so why didn’t you sign vanek

Because they’ll take over the pk and you need guys like that. Now I’m not thrilled with their cap hit but I imagine Sobotka will be a deadline move. Berglund is going to surprise some people.

Thompson can think and play the game fast, his wheels are above avg. The other two are short term assets. Filling a gap.

In a vacuum....

We now have Olofsson, Sheary, & Nylander as top 6 projecting LWers.
We now have Thompson and Pu as top 6 projecting RWers.
We now have Jack and Casey top 6 projecting Cs.
We now have Dahlin and Risto as top pair projecting LHD/RHD.
We now have Guhle/Pilot/Scans as 2nd pairing projecting LHD/RHD.
We now have Ullmark as a projecting starting Goalie.

This is not accounting for Davidsson, Samuelsson, Luukenon, Laaksonen, or Fitzgerald who are all at least 2nd/3rd rounders. At least one or two have to hit right?

It's not all bad in Buffalo my friends.

I’m hoping they let him stay in the AHL a little no need to rush him when we have some prospect that are already ready ..

But if he dominates Everyone “ the prospects that we think are ready “ then sure give him the 10

Vegas had a great looking roster too. It's all about playing as a team and how bad they want to win. The team this year should be hungry.

Multiple people close to the team have made it known that not only is general manager Jason Botterill not trying to trade Ristolainen currently, but he has never been interested in trading away the 23-year-old defenseman.

I think I'm more excited about the future of this D than I am the forwards.

They've got the makings of a hell of a unit.
