That remains to be seen, with the 1st rounder.

Hopefully we keep it maybe they sign Anthony duclair and just go with this roster next year and draft Kakko

I honestly think you guys got an awesome retur. For ROR. I don't like the trade from St. Louis' POV since I think they are still pretty far away from being a contender. This kind of just delays their inevitable rebuild.

But we didn’t get any “top end” assets
That’s my biggest problem with the deal

- jdfitz77

Kinda what I said earlier, they got the best player, but we have to see what the picks turn into... and who know maybe this Kid turns into something, but we didn’t get the best player which is usually what moves the needle for me. Now if ROR was truly a problem in the locker room then he had to go.

Thompson has a good shot, but needs to learn a much quicker release for it to matter. Great size, but doesn't know how to use it, and needs to add muscle to his big frame. Poor skating. Was still over his head trying to learn Blues defensive system 41 games in.

I'd put his floor as average third liner, ceiling as decent second liner. And most likely he ends up an above average third liner who can play in the top 6 if he has high end line mates.

Thanks for the info!

The Calder winner was picked 15th overall

0% chance we got a top end asset.

This place is bonkers

So many are fixated on the two "salary dumps", that they forget we got 3 other pieces. And I'll tell you what, yes, Thompson has to get stronger (what 20 year old hockey player doesn't?) and keep improving upon his skating, but if he brings it like he brought it in college, with that shot and puck handling skills, we might have a winner here.

Yeah, pretty much agree with all that

Idk why we didn’t just wait till after midnight if it would’ve gotten us more though?
It’s not my 7.5mil,
but Pegula hasn’t spared any expenses yet

Like Pachs said, perhaps JBotts learned his lesson with Kane. You gotta know when to hold em, and know when to fold em.

I agree with you, and the picks are really what botts wanted... let’s face it. He can use 3 picks to move around the board next year all he wants.

Yeah, i’m Not sure why we didn’t either unless they have something in mind ( cap wise) moving forward.

Nothing against you

line up good ..

But we're still going to be in the bottom 5

- gerbe75pts

Yea we still need that top line LW. Maybe Olofsson or Nylander can surprise us. One can hope. I don’t think Botts is done yet though.

It might be smart not do anything don't trade away any of the picks but maybe Jake can get us a top 6 forward with potential

And the thing is, we weren’t going to be either way.

Well, good is a relative term I guess.

My opinion is, either contend to win it all, or don’t bother. If they were going to keep O’Reilly to try and have an 80-85 point season and still miss...it’s a waste

- sbroads24

I think that's fair.

Looking at the past years of us trying to go fast with rebuilds we should keep all the picks and maybe just move extra D and some bottom forwards for some help that are not getting a chance in a diffrent organization

I think were looking at the long haul. If we can't promote from within, which we dont have 1LW prospect, they will hopefully be there for our pick this year.

Possible that they use Berglund at LW. Sheary + Berglund is a nice upgrade from Girgs + Wilson.

There's gotta be a few more moves coming, but I don't see us moving anyone with enough value to land a true top 6 LW.

there are enough players in the system not terribly far from NHL time that someone has to step up at some point.

If so fine. We can restock wingers throughout that 1st round if necessary. Well be top 10. Still don't think were bottom 5 team with Dahlin and Mitts joining the fray.

Lets hope so. Last year, I was convinced one of, if not both of Bailey and Bapper were gonna force their way into the lineup.

No reason to think we would have gotten more. The Blues said they were out if that happened. Writing that check might have ruined their best opportunity to move him.
