Im good with laughton as a 3rd line c for now.Weise and lehtera need to be replaced. So get a pk guy and maybe a kid from the A and lets roll with it.In a couple yrs this team can compete with anyone. The leafs are now the team to beat in the east.if Frost ,farabee,Obrien, ratcliffe, rubstov, hart can reach their potential look out.Philly will be the team to beat.
- flyeredup85

Is this just because of the recency bias of the Tavares signing? It being July 2nd? or do you honestly think they are the team to beat with: no D, not a great goalie, and hasn't made it out of the 1st round (with the current core)?

With this signing, Hextall fast tracked the team. I didn't feel like we were a playoff team on June 30th. I do now.

Hextall spoke about extending Simmonds on NHL.com. He wants to keep him a Flyer is what he said. I believe him. Let's go!

I'm excited for Toronto.

- SuperSchennBros

Just curious what made you think the Flyers were not a playoff team on June 30th? Before free agency even started, and considering the fact they made the playoffs the year prior?

I don't completely disagree with you, but what made you think that? Probably losing Filp or Manning didn't make you feel better on June 30th? Not to mention development of Patrick, Provy, or Konecny?

Lol they’re great signings from the perspective of being able to waste money on bad players. What’s not to like?
- YuenglingJagr

Neither player is a bad player. That's a false narrative.

The NBA is (frank)ed
- Nucker101

Ive been saying it for years but the NBA grossly over expanded. It's a complete have and have nots league. The best players finally realized that they can team up and not waste away on mediocre teams. If the NBA cut 10 teams and re-distributed those rosters around the league the product would be sooooo much more entertaining to watch. Who wants to watch a league where the Conference Finals matchups are decided before a single game has been played?

And don't even get me started on how that league handles player's contracts. Total mess.

I haven't enjoyed the NBA since the days of Jordan, Bird, Magic, and Dr. J.

I don't blame you. It's been steadily going down hill ever since.

Basketball is a great sport but the NBA is a total cluster (frank). Hinkie pretty much exposed how broken the league is (you legit can't build a championship worthy team without tanking in the NBA) and now you've got super teams that 75% of the league stand no chance against on any given night.

Pretty much and if Lebron James starts with the social justice bull poop I hope someone back hands hard enough to knock some sense into him. The Lakers offered the contract I don’t blame him for taking it but does it help build a team.
Not that I care but just sayin.

For the most part I'm in the same boat although I did get some enjoyment out of watching the Sixers in the playoffs until they ran into Boston. The game is just so degraded and so lazy. Not even remotely the same as the glory days.

Bunch of old men yelling at clouds. The Warriors play a beautiful style of basketball that is amazing to watch.

If you can’t appreciate how they play I don’t know what to tell you.

Just for argument’s sake (and I’m sure it will stir a lot), what would a package for Karlsson from the Flyers look like?

Young, already good, potentially great roster player + 1 or 2 of our top 5 prospects + 1st + 2nd

So yeah. No.

If the Flyers are still looking to sign a veteran Dman to a 1 year deal on the cheap to be the 7th guy on the roster, here are 4 guys that could fit the bill:

Cody Franson
Dennis Seidenberg
Andrej Sustr
Patrick Wiercioch

Not much out there in FA if they are still looking for a 3C, and I still think a trade could happen. But, if he was willing to sign a one year deal, Mark Letestu could be a short term fill.

reading all the articles about the prospects camp you get a real good feel of how much depth the Flyers really have. It is a real good thing. Great to see Laberge coming around.Really stoked about the size and skill of the forwards. You can see why Hextall had no issue going with smaller forwards in this years draft, Farabee seems to be a real sniper. Ratcliffe right now is a wow. I just heard of Dehass, anyone have some scoup on him? 24 with good size on the D?

Frost, if he is at 184 now, he probably can get to 190, if it makes sense. I know he could play in the world juniors but I hope if he earns it, he stays. I know, I know, Hextall will say it is not just about camp, it is about can he play 82 in the NHL and I agree with Hex, but I hope Frost can.

Flyers need 2 surprises from their prospects this season, if they get that, I don't think they will need to make any other moves, unless it is a move that blows hextall away

would like Sustr and I mentioned Letestu at the end of the season, I think he would be a good stop gap. I see Laughton and/or Vecchione being traded in the next year or so with all the prospects the Flyers have. I do like Vecchinones size
