Hutton was an ok signing, the rest is nothing I wasn't expecting. Still need a winger, people were pissed we didn't sign Duclair, you know because he's so valuable.

He wants a 6 year deal.

I think if he was actually going to get that, he would have signed by now.

I give him a B. Hutton was the best goalie on the market, and he didn’t overpay for anyone which in retrospect might be better then signing someone itself. Botterill needs to be patient. We’ll see what happens with ROR now. We won the Pilut and Hickey sweepstakes and although that isn’t a big deal right now those two moves can be really good for us down the line.

Is ROR still on his way out ? Or do you think there is a better chance he stays now ?

For me it started when Botts refused to do any buyouts (Larsson, Beaulieu). Getting Hutton was very good but he didn't address other needs and players I felt he could have signed today went elsewhere. He was too cautious when he admitted at the end of last season changes will happen. Today was his opportunity.

There is still time for him to make those changes, we'll see.

But did we? I don’t think we will know that answer till about 15 games in. There is nothing that says Hutton is better than robin

Whey would he buy out Larsson or Beaulieu when it is cheaper to bury them in the AHL for a year?

Nash, Schaller, Grabner, Roussel, Pateryn and Calvert would have been nice to get. Not all of them just a few guys that would not have cost a lot.

From what I posted last week about ROR it seemed like the best case for both parties was to move him, sounds like it won't happen now. Have to be strong down the middle and we are now.
