The argument I'm trying to make is about developmental players. Longshots. 5-7. You can argue round 4 fits there too.

He's only participated in 2 drafts. And CM looks like one of the best players from 2017 so far. (Still early)

Like I said. I think it's still a coincidence, but I'm of the opinion that it's better use of assets if you can develop them for a longer period of time. It's apparent the Europeans (Swedes) are playing the style the Sabres and the NHL are really starting to embrace. I'm certain they're targeting SHL players on purpose.

I also read up on some objective STL fans opinions on the trade, and they think it's a fair trade. A lot of them really like Thompson, saying he has great hands and a great shot, isn't slow, doesn't back down from anyone, showed flashes of real talent last year, but just couldn't put it all together just yet; and if he pans out as projected, the Blues will miss him.

He's a solid prospect. When he fills out and the NHL game clicks for him, watch out.
