Much better compared to the starting line up last year. And i don't think Botts is done yet. Interesting to see where Girgs and Larsson end up. Based on the above, I am guessing Girgs is the 13th forward and Larsson is in Rochester.

I understand his position on players from the CHL having a smaller window to make a contract decision, but it does disturb me a little bit. It's one thing to prefer the college/European route for that reason. It's another thing to avoid the CHL altogether, which Botterill seems to be doing. The CHL is still the best developmental league out there. That should offset at least some of the concern.

I hardly think they're dismissing the CHL. In fact, I'm confident they are not. And they even mentioned they had a few CHL guys on their boards that were simply taken before they were able to pick. Of course the track record says they're avoiding the CHL, but I'd prefer they'd use their developmental picks on players they can control for years to come. 2016 was all wasted developmental picks.

People here continue to complain about how the Sabres are unable to hit on a late pick. Well maybe this is the way to do it. Give the org 4 years to develop a kid instead of 2. Find guys with redeeming qualities that look like late bloomers or are way undersized, see where they are when they're 22. I like the approach, and we'll see how many hits botts gets in the late rounds vs Darcy and Tim.

95% of them don't. they play NHL 18 and make fantasy trades and don't really understand reality.

I can get behind that.

I know I can complain a lot. And I know it sounds like I am here, but zero CHL prospects in the past 2 years tell me something is up. Maybe "avoiding" is the wrong term, but I do think at the very least, it is setting up some sort of mental bias, which could be bad.
