Hi guys, I've been a reader for a while now and with this big trade that just went trough I tought it would be a good time to join the conversation and share my toughts

First off, I can't hide my disappointment of not getting one of Thomas, Kyrou, Kostkin or Parayko. I must admit I dont know much about Thompson but from what I've read he doesn't seem like a lock at all to be a top 6 player, which is what I would've like in the prospect included in the trade. That being said I still think that the deal is decent value for ROR, considering that is contract was risky to keep.

Also, I see a lot of you guys saying we should trade for Pacioretty. As a sabres fan who lives in Quebec, I saw a lot of MaxPacs and trust me trading for him would be a bad idea. I wouldn't even trade a 2nd round pick for him since I wouldn't be willing to give more than 4.5M/year for his extension which wouldn't get it done obviously.

We get two 30 year olds who are 30 point players at best IE should be 3rd liners on most teams...

Not great cap hits especially for Berglund... 4 more years at 3.85....

Thompson.. I'll admit I don't know a lot about. But from what I've read big guy who CAN'T skate. Couldn't make it with the NHL last year but was a goal scorer in college. Likely projects out to be a 3rd line RW.... So no speed, no cap relief, no immediate goal scoring, no top six replacement. How did we win this trade...?

Not sure where they'll play Berglund, but he'd instantly become our #1 or #2 LW.

Thompson is a big, skilled RW with a great shot....if you love Olofsson, you should love Thompson too. Very possible they see him as a guy who fits with Eichel, even if he's not ready day 1.

Spare parts? You’re a fool. Cleanse the locker room for a 1st, 2nd, a former 1dt that is good and 2 other players but as you say spare parts. You need all the parts you can get. No one is ever happy. This is a great trade. But some of the people on this blog have no clue and just love to female dog, moan and complain

Beglund and sobotka are both good on the defensive side. Thompson has a great shot and hands, was rushed up last year due to injuries. He should be a good top 6 winger in a few years when he fills out the frame and gets stronger on the puck

Got first and 2nd - awesome

Couldn’t land any of the top three prospects - win

Ended up with a prospect that is terrible and skating needs a lot of help and now we’re making him a center

And we have no future stud prospects at winger who most of us thought that’s what was going to happen

Well, I guess I can’t question whether or not Botts can make a deal anymore. Wish I could because I don’t like any piece they got besides the first*. Maybe there will be more to it. Hopefully it pans out by 2024.

Eh, Berglund can be a 20ish goal guy. He's on the back-9 of his career, no doubt, but he's a useful player. Sobotka is not good. Thompson looks like a lotta meh. Should have gotten Kyrou or Thomas. A 2021 2nd is 3 years away, and probably 6 away from seeing the NHL. The first is nice.

I wish they could have cleared larsson or Girgensons. I hope they flip a pick this summer

We got deeper in terms of forward depth, but shallower in terms of talent.

I wish ROR the best. I really enjoyed watching him play. Throw him on the pile of players run out of Buffalo, rightly or wrongly.
