Let me speak for him as he makes excellent points. Free up cap space (Not trade for two 30 year olds with a combined 150,000 under O'Reilly's cap hit for 3-4 years. Get rid of bums who have sucked the life out of this team by any means necessary. Girgensons, Bogosian, Larsson. Show some balls and sign or trade for a stud. Give up a pick for someone with term like Zucker or Nino.

For some reason i don’t think it’s that easy

And u can’t make UFAs want to come here
Overpaying them usually isn’t a great idea anyways

I like Berglund and the first. Sobotka is a cap dump, we didn't get Kyrou or Thomas, and the 2nd rounder is at least 5 years away from being a Sabre, if he ever makes it.

I hope ROR was a problem. It's the only way I can accept this trade

Well, we made one

Traded O’Reilly for “parts”

Hope you’re happy

Thompson doesn’t look like a scorer
Berglund & Sobatka are ok bottom6 players

That trade didn’t make us better unless the draft picks work out YEARS from now

Utter fail by Botts imo
Should’ve just kept O’Reilly

- jdfitz77

Kind of thinking same.

Sounds like Thompson is their Nylander. Could be ok but a guy willing to add to any trade to incentive it. Nothing special.

A late 2019 1st we won’t see for years.

2021(!) 2nd. Won’t be in NHL until like 2024/25

And two cap dumps. Some may argue no, but if these two guys were FAs today and botts signed them to their currant contracts we would be pissed hes wasting cap money. Could of got similar players today on FA cheaper or less term.

A C grade only because it seemed O’Reilly needed to go.

Unless you’ve been paying attention and realized ROR is the problem in the room and he had to be traded. He couldn’t “just be kept”

@eyetesthockey
Was just about to post. If you're looking for a reason to be excited about Tage Thompson, 16 of his 18 points last year in the AHL (30 GP) were primary points. Pretty good for a U-20 skater

One player making $7.5 for 3 players making a little over $8 million.

A first next year and a 2nd a few years later

Berglund is the guy to shelter Mittelstadt in the defensive zone.

A big power forward winger who isn’t a great skater but has a wicked shot. He could use a year in Rochester.

It’s not a holy crap trade but it’s a pretty solid trade all around.

This trade proves nobody was going to give up the farm for ROR.

Fact is ROR needed to go. He asked for a trade without coming right out and demanding a trade.

The cap coming in is for 3 guys, it’s not all wasted on 1 guy.

I still don’t think Botterill is done.
