Well to start i thought we had a logjam before today. Thats to say we had a poor roster to win with but looks like UTICA will be beasty & trades are a coming. We added size & more character. In that light JB has done well & i see the motive behind it. More to say but difficult til trades league wide go down. The kids still have opportunity but not gifted & its competing against each other.

As for lines i need a lot of time to mull it with these signings to ponder. I can see Sven featured & probable trade bait. Sutter at the TDL if AG in Utica makes good progress. He could still earn a roster spot.

Over all these signings tells me the rebuild is ongoing & character & D & insulating the kids is important. I do see TG’s hand in this to implement his system better meaning rolling 4 lines & energy for 60mins.

I build lines as duos & 3rd wheel is chemistry material. More talent then loading up can happen but thats too far away til a top 2C is for real.

Chose your spots wisely . Only 25 allowed before opening night. It is like going from 3 packs a day of smokes to one a week .

So I assume Benning wants to trade a forward or package a forward for a dman now, said he wants to upgrade the defense.

Why not just sign De Haan then and trade Hutton for peanuts? If Moore is getting 2.8M for 5 years, I can see someone taking Hutton for free for 1 year at 2.8M and hoping he regains form.

It's all up to the kids. Gaudette is the only kid who is exempt who has nhl games. I doubt anyone is sending down Boeser. There is already 14 signed. Then some hopeful kids.

Rieder should be interesting now, either Leon or Connor as his C .Could be a break-out year for him.

yeah, that was a solid signing for the Oil. Not much risk at all and a decent amount of upside for a team that desperately needs scoring depth

That sounds about right to me. JB is signing size/character & top 6 spots are for the kids to earn. Top 9 is for a few others who can push the top 6. It makes sense if looking ahead to 2020 & beyond.
