Horvat was tops last season, Sutter second, Henrik third.

Younger players already on the team going to have to take a step forward. Team is going to have to play for each other. Goaltending is going to have to be better.

Will someone pay the fees for a new team there though? If melnyk relocates then for a new team they will need a new arena, plus a billionaire, plus a fee for at least 650m(reported Seattle was paying 600m franchise fee, so a new one would ne more)
I highly doubt that the team expands to 33 teams any time soon, so the only hopes they have is Melnyk sells. With what he is doing to the team, is there a chance someone wants to buy that team?

Although Sutter is a bit of an offensive blackhole, I think EP is skilled enough that it won't matter. Sutter has the skills to put up goals/points, he just doesn't use his linemates at all. With someone like EP, he will be able to have a career year thanks to him. Then Sutter won't be needed because EP will move to our 2c and we can sell high on Sutter.

If the NCC arena development plan plan goes through , 2 rail lines to it and in the downtown , it would be a positive change in attendance you would think.
Melnyk is not on board however, that is why i think there would need to be an ownership change . Bettman has demonstrated a recent resistance to relocate franchises .

Patrick Kane ( not comparing the two ) has done the same on the wing for Chi. EP could be protected to a degree while he gets his feet wet. EP would be the playmaker on the line compensating for what Sutter lacks.

He's a better defender than EG was last year. That's just a statistical fact on several metrics, it's not very close. Just because EG is a big and knocks guys around doesn't mean he's not getting scored on.

Why bother? Other people know the facts. Hutton was better than those guys 5 on 5 statistically and Stetchers PK stats are top 10 in the league... better than both of those guys.

It's seems to me that it doesn't sound right that Lu would be really upset and looking to even up the score. He knew when he left he was going to a club the Leafs were going to target a player of there and it was a July 1st signing not a taboo offer sheet or anything. To me, the beef would be from ownership and Lu in his first year like any GM is going to check some marks on his job orders and I'm pretty sure offering a trade for Matthews "or else we offer sheet" will surely be at the top of "replace JT" options.

I've been saying since Lu signed with the Islanders that Matthews will go there... and in the end, it will be the Leafs again missing pieces chasing their tail.
