Would you give a first second and third for Marner?

Yes

Yeah not two firsts . I would offer Nylander 8 just to drive up the cap hit on TO. Islanders have plenty of young prospects they can afford to give it up plus they can trade to replace those picks
- VANTEL

8 for Nylander is too much. Marner no probs

I understand the disappointment but we have to be realistic. We are already a young team and we are probably going to add to that by bringing in Pettersson and Hughes.
Do we really want to surround them with Gaudette Dahlen Goldobin Boucher Lind Gadjovich

I'm happy with the signings. no disappointment here.

For sure. Who knows how much better JV could have been too.
- neem55

No rush wanting JV to realize potential. Its more important that he gets there & not about how soon. Time is on our side given the pain that is still ahead.

I’ve suggested an OS before & shot down for it. I understood why. It only takes 2-3 GM’s to break that mold to let true competion & more ruthless fun lol

JB fixed what was missing last year. Replacing DD and more. Skill wise, that's what the draft is for.

You could OS 9.5 mil which cost you a first second and third.
- VANTEL

I would OS marner 8m and know Tor can't afford to match. Matthews will likely not accept any less than JT and will likly want more if a long term, or he will go bridge and cash in huge during arbitration. Tor cant afford to pay 11/11-12/8 for 3 forwards and hope to be any good. I think in today's NHL if you have 2 players over 10m you need to pay 6 or so or less for each other forward. Those expensive centers should be able to carry a line like they do in Pitts. and will need to do in EDM now,

Would the compensation be worth it though? 1st and 3rd @ $6m. $6.1 to $8m 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Here's more...

As long as our 2020 1st is not top 5 Marner is worth it IMO. If we got him I doubt we are a bottom feeder at all.

I wouldn't OS Matthews 4 firsts is nuts . Besides I can't wait until two players cost 23 mil

Sometimes you have to put yourself in a GM's shoes. If he doesn't improve the team, he won't be the GM much longer. In order to do so sometimes you have to overpay for some role players. Both Beagle and Roussel are character veteran players. They'll help Vancouver.

Gm's can't force players to sign one.

If stone wants out of the tire fire in ottawa, he's the only possibility this year.

Yes he would, he is now 4th fiddle, he will never be compensated fairly if he stays in Laff land.

He could be traded...very likely soon imo.

Leafs have 13m in cap space. They could easily an offer this year. It's not a threat.
