I agree and they had a good draft. I'm just skeptical Matthews and/or Marner would sign their offer sheet next summer with the Islanders and wait around to see if there's a building/goalie in place.
Arizona is much more likely and probably the odds on favourite to land Matthews. Marner may stay with them because it's his home team? - walshyleafsfan
I don't believe they would, why on earth would they? They'll get paid and have a chance to win for a long night time in Toronto.

Yes a good fit and he's a right shot. |

Do you have some sort of NHL pedigree the rest of us don't know about?
You speak to us "fans/armchair GM's" as if you know more then the rest of us. - manvanfan
DO YOU MEAN LIKE THISDoesn't look like there is too much hope.
Dylan Plouffe and Mitchell Prowse could be interesting. I doubt either are coming away with a contract and both can re-enter the draft.
Read some good things on Josh Teves, seems like another Hutton type. Maybe they could not screw that one up
Ben Copeland might be someone to watch.
A lot of small forwards.
Anyone you've got your eye on? - manvanfan
Dylan DeMelo and Christian Folin both UFA RHD. Could be some decent depth options. - manvanfan
The goal was to be "less soft" Waiving Schaller for Pettersson is literally the opposite. Would need to trade a soft forward. Baertschi, Granlund, Goldy, Leipsic.
I'd get rid of Goldy. Youngest, still on a cheap contract. Might be worth the most.
Package Goldy and Hutton for something. - manvanfan
1.9 AAV for a depth signing? I'm not so sure. Re-signing Archie was the depth/insurance move. - manvanfan

I think it is the opposite Minivan . I don't keep quotes from other posters from two years back like some strange posters on here. I just had to look back what you quoted an hour ago. |

Keep quotes from people that are like "manvan, write this down".
I also don't see anywhere in there other then one comment that isn't anything other then an opinion. I don't tell anyone that it's not rocket science or they are wrong. I don't tell anyone where any prospect is going to be. |

Dude can I let you in on a secret . You are a weird little fellow. That is why posters like Makita ask you why do you have a hobby of writing down what people say in the past.
It is why other people will jump on you.
You are the know it all of prospects and how people should pick them . I said about 6 months ago once or twice that I like Bahl and you anoint him my must have player.
You have put countless posters on your not talking to list anymore .
You really do need to get a mirror . |

I wonder how many Detroit or Calgary's seventh round picks are playing in the NHL right now?
I am not on the Benning fence at all like I said I would prefer a different guy but I am on the Booner side. You can easily find tear pie media and hysteria.
It was a four person decision every player selected in UFA . It was even a larger agreement for every person drafted. |

Benning should just trade every pic outside of the first round for 2nd and 5th rounders ...that’s where he shines

The funny thing is, it is exactly the same for every other GM or team |

Truth is Benning has hit on one 5 th rounder Gaudette and a third rounder Tryamkin . the rest are first rounders . If you count Demkos one game I guess you can say second rounders too. All the rest have been first rounders.
That is not a hard record to match |

Good pics by Benning so far imo are:
Forsling
Tree
Demko
Gaudette
Boeser
I put Boeser in there cuz getting him where they did is a good pick even though it’s a first
The last two drafts are too recent to judge late picks
EP looks like a good pick
McCann at his spot isn’t too bad
JV and OJ don’t look good now but in 5 years maybe they are ...still very young players

Pretty happy. Only kids that really dominate training camp will make the team, Utica is going to our best team ever down there since Burke’s kids were dominating for the moose |

Argee with all of this. I don't think Benning himself is a drafting guru. It seems since Brackett has come on board that things have changed

I thought his 3rd rd picks are pretty solid as well.
Tree, Brisebois, DiPietro and Lockwood.

I think the backlash from passing over skill for needs is what changed the drafting
But brackett does have good American college connections though doesn’t he ? |
