We just drafted him last week. Haven't had an opportunity to talk to Quinn about the future next year. Sit down this week and talk to the family. He will come to training camp and go from there.

It's always England first for me then after that it's a mixed theme.

I really can't get behind Crotia's team after some of the history of that team in the 90's(non political). They don't dive anywhere near as bad now as the 90's but I'm still bitter about their match against England in 98.

Southern Euro teams are almost as bad for diving and rolling around as the Latin American countries with Argentina being the exception. It's a part of the game yes but some take it to a disgusting level.

I find the Anglo teams play a edgy physical game with far more integrity when it comes to fake injuries. English Prem is a very physical exciting league. Still, I think Anglo's are better built/tempered for Hockey especially when you see players getting punched/kicked for whiny diving in the EPL fairly often.

Well we got a new gritty 4th line today. It cost more than it should, but then were not much of a destination. JB went out and got what we needed, the kids will be stood up for and EP has a couple great mentors to learn the C position from now. I think we lose a lot of games but it's a season where we really start to see some progress

There is no room on a 23 man roster for EP as it stands, unless they are going to lose someone to waivers, and we all know how well that goes over around here...

If everyone is healthy, and they aren’t planning on trading anyone, Hughes should go back to school (sign the BB special), Pettersson should go back to Sweden and really dominate (hopefully playing C), AG, Dahlen, Lind, Gaj and the rest of the crew to Utica.

Next year, no Granlund, hopefully no Gagner, a miracle if no Eriksson, then you have all the new tough guys, and there will be space for your skilled youth to make a push.

pettersson already signed a canuck contract, so it's nhl or ahl

Is Lebron the most untraded NBA player in their prime to play on 3 teams and counting?

Plenty of players on NHL contracts are loaned to European leagues.

Completely disagree. JB has spent the entire offseason talking about Ep being in the top6, if anything I think he bumps someone down. I think he plays 2nd line and PP1 right off the bat.

I don't think he's underrated, pretty much everyone acknowledges he's the best in the biz.

Portugal is mine. Uruguay capitalized on both opportunities. Unfortunately Rinaldo was a non-factor.
- Eldebrink

Thats one of the Southern Euro teams I actually like. Always have a soft spot for that country especially since the were the only nation on the Atlantic/Med to open their ports so England could invade and fight Napoleon on a southern front. Portugal saved western Europe. Not the first time either... Portugal was the only nation in the region not to fall to the Moors and once again, the invader was pushed back from Portugal.

Here is a good read on this very subject. Great too see these kids taking advantage of this post-hockey opportunity.

Chl players get schooling paid for (post secondary). Im not 100% sure what it is, maybe 2 years tuition for every 1 year played? NCAA players obviously have scholarships. Its the route i would take if i was a young prospect. Who wants to go to school after your hockey career is done.
- Codes1087

lots of players become lawyers and players agents after their careers....mike gillis for example

Pretty sure he didn't say that. He said he would meet with the family to see where they were at and what their plans were for next year. Didn't hear him say he hoped he would sign this year
- NorthNuck

But he's said it since the draft and you could only assume that he's not going there to talk about the weather.

Almost every lineup I've seen doesn't even include Leipsic as a spare forward. I have a strong feeling he plays most of the year on the top line. Guy is highly underrated. Had 9 points in 14 games with us. Is an absolutely puck retriever which is exactly what Bo and Brock need on their line. And he's down to bang, a much needed player on this team! Don't overlook him!

If that happens it means someone who is not waiver exempt will need to clear, or a trade will need to happen. There are too many NHL contracts. There is no way Benning sends any of these players to Utica:
Beagle
Rousel
Schaller
Eriksson
Gagner
Sutter
Baertschi
Granlund (I guess he’s a maybe)
Horvat
Boeser

Then you have:
Goldobin
Leipsic
Virtanen
Gaunce
All requiring waivers

That’s already 14 forwards before EP or Gaudette or Dahlen or anyone else.

People are trying way too hard to cry. JB has a history of making space and there are so many players to pick to waive or trade for nothing to make spots so it's not going to get in the way of EP. Gaudette on the other hand...

Key words are BO & BROCK
My question is can another player do that?
Also what other value does Sven offer other than points?

- Nighthawk

He's a decent twoway playerat this stage in his development. A good third wheel who can't drive offense on his own. 2lw lifer, paid as such, good value signing even if he hits 20 20 only with brock and bo.

Just watched Benning's interview. He did say he wants Hughes signed.

I thought the two were mutual on that from draft day on...

I have him pencilled in as 2 line centre. EP on 1 side and Jake on the other.

Its just an additional hurdle if we ever try and deal them. Bottom 6 guys with limited clauses.. meh
- Codes1087

Bottom six guys rarely have the leverage to come out on top when it comes to blocking trades. Once they know they are not desired, they fear the loss of ice time or loss of roster spot. They are far easier to replace and either watch from the press box or play in the AHL.

What do you think happens when a 4rth liner blocks a trade? It's not a No Movement.... its not really a hurdle imo. Good chance a team targeting that kind of depth is play off bound as well.

Any time you get the opportunity to overpay AHL caliber players in both AAV and term, you’ve gotta jump on it

Man, Jim Benning is such a loser

- AxlRose91

I like how the best forwards in the league are paid the most, that really sets the value.

McDavid 12.5m ouch, but by far the best, and the youngest.
Crosby 10m probably the best player right now, McDavid will take the crown shortly
Stamkos 8.5m Value money for the second best scoring forward(behind Ovechkin)
Ovechkin 10m, best scorer on the planet

Oops, top four I guess. Damn , inflation is a botch. I wonder how much Matthews will get paid?

As opposed to playing 22 min a night in Utica top pair PP PK ?
- VANTEL

Reaching for the Whine is all... I mean, why wouldn't we want him in Utica if he doesn't make the NHL? He'd be playing with better talent.... he'd be available for call up... he'd be playing with future team mates....

He cant even come to camp if he wants to keep his scholarship. He has to sign to do this so the people who think he's better off in college don't even want to give him a chance to make the team. They don't want a look at all... they don't care that he's proved he can play with men... it's a rubber stamp decision.

My thoughts & hope also.
Again trades are needed to happen no matter what.
I do expect them also. Trader Jim won’t let me down.
3 ufa freebies allows room for picks & value but a lil less is tolerable.
