Anyone see the video on G calling JVR a pigeon for a 2013 game? Why a pigeon? - WhirlingDervish
A pigeon, as I understand it, is a player who scores meaningless goals. |

With JVR in, I don’t want Patrick net front again on the PP.
Don’t want our future 1C taking that kind of abuse. - flyer_nutter
Patrick can be JvR's Giroux PP2 |

I like the JVR deal. I like the term. The $$$ is a bit much, but I get it.
This is the kind of player the Flyers have lacked. He's a sniper. |

They'll likely waive Leier before Lehtera, it was clear that Hak has no trust in him by the way he was used as the season went on last year. I'm also hoping a kid like Aube-Kubel can beat out Weise and they can waive that useless piece of crap as well. Other than that, this could be how they roll assuming they add a 3C from outside the organization, which is far from a lock. - BiggE
Maybe. They waived Read before Leier last year.

So we got rid of a so so player and got our former 2nd overall pick back. Understood
Now put schenn's Johnsonville bratwurst back in your mouth and let the big boys discuss real hockey players.
Thanks again for all your schenn love 👬 - Myfreedomisback
These are very big words by you. What do you mean by Johnsonville bratwurst exactly and why would it be in my mouth. Walk me through this for clarification. |

This is an asinine post on many levels. If Schenn is a so-so player, so is JVR. - MJL

Thinking that had more to do with dollars than anything else and the fact that Read's skating was really looking labored in camp. All I know is that when we got to the playoffs. Leier was behind Lehtera, Weise and Read on the depth chart at that point.

You know....those 5 packs of juicy sausages they sell at the store?
We know you love schenn I just don't see anyone talk about it except you anymore. I'd rather have frost and O'Brien than schenn all day. Big win for hexy in that trade |

Frost and Farabee, the #14 pick was from St. Louis. |

Hextall has done that multiple times. Waived better players to the AHL due to a pre-determined decision to give a younger player a chance.

Schenn is history, don't even know why people still bring it up.
On the other topic you mentioned, JVR is a much better skater than Lehtera and just as good a skater as Weise with the difference being that JVR actually generates offense and will at least use his size to his advantage in the O zone. Weise, OTOH, is 6'2 210 and plays like he's 5'8 165. - BiggE
I actually felt like Weise made a physical impact when he dressed in the playoffs. One we were missing.
The talk now focuses on Simmonds being traded. I feel like we should have kept the cheaper, younger Schenn (to JvR) and traded the older Simmonds, likely to cost more Simmonds for the same Blues return. |

Hak's gonna Hak. Last time I checked though, he's still the head coach and Leier was getting a lot less game action from December on than either of the 2 young dmen.
I think Leier's time as a Flyer is over.

With VDV and Manning out, I am slightly intrigued who will get the final rose from Hakstol this season. |

Absolutely. My point was that as the season wore on, Leier fell further and further down the depth chart. At this point, I don't think he's in their future plans as anything more than an AHL depth call up.

Why would these sausages be Schenn's?
We used the Blues draft pick to get Joel Farabee, "Big Boy".
Why don't you tell me a little bit about Jay O'Brian though. |

I urge you to raise your standards. Trade Simmonds and Schenn. Sign JVR.
I do agree about a lack of physicality overall, the team does play quite soft. Still, JVR for 5 years is a good add. No pieces given up to bring him in. |

Yeah, he looked ok for a few shifts in one game, but hasn't that been his track record since they signed him? He'll have one decent game and then be an utter non-factor for the next dozen.
If Dale Weise never plays another game for the Flyers again, I very much doubt anyone will miss him.
