The goaltending needs to be addressed. Otherworldly this move could be for naught this year.

Dont see how you go into the season with the same can of worms that you ended with.

I like Jake and don't see any reason to move him for ROR.

Swapping simmer++ for panarin.... I'd listen.

I have no desire to trade Jake. Love him to death. Simmonds I think we gotta move

I expect Elliott as the starter with less usage

They don't really have many options that are clear cut improvements. Plus with Hart soon to be knocking at the door I don't think Hexy wants to burn assets or cap space on another goalie right now.

thats fine in theory. what happens when glass joe gets hurt?

Coach has already shown to ride guys until they break. add the fact that neither him or glass joe are anything special.

my take on hart is this; if he pans out great problems solved. you cant bank on it especially the way Ronald likes to develop players. He could possible be 3 years away. get a goalie and this team isnt as far away as one may think imo.

There are better options then those 2. whether or not they want to pay the price to get one is the question.

get a goalie and you worry about hart later. when he is ready you deal with whatever issue you have then.

I mean I think Hexy could make the move if he really wanted to. It's the next contract that you gotta worry about. He's easily going to get 11+ a year. That's going to require filling the bottom six with a lot of ELCs

I'm thinking glass Joe as you called him gets moved. Lyon or Stollie backs up.

If it were up to me, I'd package Neuvirth with a 4th round pick and see if that can land you Craig Anderson. Anderson is no spring chicken, but he's much more durable than Neuvirth and better than Elliott.

I'd start Anderson 45-50 games and Elliott 32-37 which would keep Anderson fresh going into the playoffs.

Another option, would be to package Neuvirth, a 3rd, and a prospect like Vecchione to St. Louis and see if that can land you Jake Allen. Allen and Elliott worked well as a tandem in St. Louis and again, Allen's durability makes him an upgrade over the glass goalie.

If Allen can rediscover his "A" game, he's a solid starter who can give you 55 starts and Elliott can be a very good backup and start 27.

Cap's going up at least once more -- one big jump. Lehtera comes off, Simmonds comes off, you have one of the top systems in hockey and literally just picked two more first-round forwards with upside a week ago

I'd say "(frank) it" and do it. Yeah, you gotta figure out some other stuff down the line, but that's what you get paid to do

I definitely don't want to fight about this today, absolutely not, but they could do it if they wanted to -- with the farm system they have, they could do just about anything they wanted right this minute

This is possible, but pretty risky. I'd want to see Stolarz at least get through camp healthy before I'd bank on him and I'm not sure Lyon, at the NHL level, is anything more than a average back up at best. Plus knowing the way Hak uses his goalies, going with that scenario will likely lead to him overplaying Elliott and burning him out down the stretch.

I want to make something very clear before I hear more never ending Schenn comments hurled towards me.

The Flyers did miss Brayden Schenn this past season. If they didn't, the JvR signing doesn't happen. We got a good return for Schenn, not great. We still took on a bad contract, anchored to a bad player. The two players we drafted with the two first rounders we received in return look promising but we won't know how good they are until five years down the road, which is fine but that's still long down the road. Today we signed a bigger, less physical, older, more expensive Brayden Schenn.

I'm fine with all of this. I think we needed a scoring winger and we got one. Although I don't see how JvR as a skater helps the speed of this team with Lehtera and Weise on it.

Schenn is history, don't even know why people still bring it up.

On the other topic you mentioned, JVR is a much better skater than Lehtera and just as good a skater as Weise with the difference being that JVR actually generates offense and will at least use his size to his advantage in the O zone. Weise, OTOH, is 6'2 210 and plays like he's 5'8 165.

i roll the dice with allen in a heartbeat. I do not think vecchione has any value what so ever. he is irreverent in any deal to me.

i like anderson but with his age he could fall off rather quickly. if ottawa would eat half of his cap hit, def look into that. assuming you can dump glass joe in the deal even if you have to pay a little extra.

If they sign jvr who cares about where weal raffle or Leier play. Are they even bringing Leier back ?

Jvr won’t block anyone. When guys are ready they will play has been Ronald’s mo so no concern there at all.

Wonder if this signing is a sign Simmonds contract negotiations are not going well ?

- rinaldo

Leier, I imagine, is re-signed and waived to play in LV.

So we got rid of a so so player and got our former 2nd overall pick back. Understood

Btw I see the flyers doing to jvr exactly what Toronto did, play him on the 3rd line. Heavy heavy ozone starts for this line. Patrick and couturier line will do all the heavy lifting. Unleash him on other teams third pairing

With JVR in, I don’t want Patrick net front again on the PP.

Don’t want our future 1C taking that kind of abuse.

This is an asinine post on many levels. If Schenn is a so-so player, so is JVR.
