No but I would think that Colangelo really f’ed up what slim chances the Sixers had to sign him.

Interesting deal. Basically, the Blues won't be picking in the first round ever again.

Are the Blues good enough to throw around assets like they do? They seem to be behaving like a team on the cusp of contending, yet they missed the playoffs last year.

Subjective

I think you'd need a medium sized ladder to reach the top of him.

I doubt it helped.

I do think he was going to the Lakers all along, though.

I'm the same way. I've read for years but rarely comment either. It's a tough crowd to break into here

Honestly just think Armstrong is acting like someone who is probably getting fired soon. Not a mess he will have to clean up so he’s just going for it. When you look at what they got for Stastny so looking at it that way...

I don't know, but they must feel their window is still open. I think they still need a top center, and I don't know if I they have one.

It's a weird move. The picks and Thompson are nice but sabotka and Berglund isn't nothing special.

I still think hextall makes a move for a defender. I wonder if they could swap something like simmonds for a top 4 defender.

Funny story.... the day my divorce was finalized I made this name and I had a braveheart scene as my profile pic on Facebook for her family to see. That was such an amazing day.... it's right ahead of the day I finally agreed with MJL about hockey topics.

Just read Tortorella’s response to Jack Johnson and Jim Rutherford. Hysterical. Imagine if Hal spoke like that.

The fans were mostly fine with it. The people most upset were the ones who hardly watched the team.

Is there really anyone here who would take the Flyers last 20 years over the Pens last 20 years?

- PhillySportsGuy

I would

Such a thing as integrity, man. How you do stuff matters

That's what is lost in the world today -- lack of character and discipline. Always wanting the reward

Anybody can lose. Anybody. It takes no skill to lose

The Flyers from 1994/5 to 2006/7 were one of the best teams in the league, Cup or no Cup. And they didn't have to tank to do it

If by saying that the Pens' way was better because they won Cups, be careful, PSG. Because if the only measurement is whether you win a championship or not, what are you gonna say if "The Process" never gets a set of rings? If for whatever reason, they just don't get the job done

Sports ain't that complicated. Results come every year. Lots of talented teams and guys don't get over the hump. You shouldn't embrace losing just because you think the shortcut makes you smarter than everyone else

I mean from a basketball standpoint it didn't make a ton of sense. The Sixers clearly have better pieces and aren't in the same conference as Houston and Golden State. Have fun playing with that ugly love child of Drake and Ben Stiller I guess?

Sixers can still go out and make a trade and rival Boston. That's all they can do.

I'm happy for Manning that he got a gig, but he scored a nice contract. Like, more money than I thought he would get.

I'm mildly surprised that Petr Mrazek scored an NHL gig with Carolina. He was legitimately bad here. I'm surprised they went with Mrazek over Steve Mason.

Also surprised that Stastny only got 3 years.

- johndewar

Mrazek was the head-scratcher of the goalies -- the Flyers had some coverage issues in a couple of his games that didn't help him, but at the same time, that was not a goaltender who I thought needed to be retained

Do you guys feel even a tiny bit bad for the Islanders?
- idiotsallofu

A little in the regard that fans get caught in the middle of it -- those people are just working stiffs like the rest of us. Their franchise is a clown show, has been since the early 1990s, and something that happens every 15 -20 years or so -- an elite talent walking in free agency -- happened to them today
