Vecchione was sent down because he didn't have to clear waivers, and the Flyers couldn't send Laughton down without admitting protecting him was a mistake. Vecchione went down, helped the team to a deep playoff run and had better stats than the much more experienced Laughton did in LV the year before exiting in the first round. So assuming players with proven upside get signed if those with none do.

Morin "made the roster" last year only because they thought Ghost might not be able to play. And frankly, all of the other kids needed another year (the year Morin has already had, and then some).

Vecchione got sent down because he didn't make the team and has yet to establish himself as an NHL player while Laughton has. The assumption that decisions were made based on appearances and how it would look is absurd.

None of the players you listed were actually ahead of Morin. Morin is going to be an NHL defenseman.

If he is good enough, of the front office is dumb enough to keep him over a better player, its going to be a long season.

The team just got a lot more likable again for me. Added size with JvR, we needed a scoring winger, we needed a left wing. Sounds like G and Jake went after JvR.

Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, van Riemsdyk, Couturier, Patrick, Konecny. Next season.
