#1 center is the most important position in hockey
Maybe our arch rival "overpaid" but they got him without giving up an asset (player or picks)

Now it allows them to trade players for assets.

This is not good, and yes I'm healthy and so is my family, so I'm lucky. This won't effect my life, but as a Sabres fan, there is no positive spin.

A 35 goal 80 point center at Tavares' level you have to Atleast give it a shot to sign and work on the cap hit later. Leafs should be able to keep the young guns, Kadri and Tavares if they keep drafting and developing young players, and stop over paying 3rd liners and 3rd pair defenseman.

Buffalo needs to pay attention to how Toronto handles it, they will be in the same boat in 3 years when Dahlin and Mittlestadt needs to be signed.
