Is Sheary really a Nolan replacement? or Kane?

Got it. So guess can’t blame that as being a potential hang up. Reports coming out about asking price being too high for Kane and now ROR is not a great look.

And there's nothing wrong with Wilson on the 4th line.

And there's nothing wrong with waiting until the deal is right to trade guys away.

I mean, yeah the Leafs got the big fish. After him, the market was (frank)ing LAME. I would've been OK with a Grabner, but whatever. None of the moves these other teams are making are game changers, except for the Leafs, perhaps.

I agree totally. Grabner would have been AWESOME, but 3 years is a lot. 2 would have been my limit.

Jason Botterill said there aren't any immediate moves they intend on making but the team does plan on making changes via free agency/trades somewhere down the line @WKBW

I guess folks wanted is to offer a 50m contract to JVR and screwed our cap situation. Perron went back "home" to St. Louis, Tavares/Carlsson/Nash werent or aren't coming..

There are no big upgrades for us. We gained depth, hopefully improved goaltending...and we have two of the top ten players entering the league next year coming to the roster.

I give Botts credit for NOT giving out massive contracts to get JVR/Neal/Perron here.

The Sabres are not in cap trouble. They have 20MM plus coming off the books in the next two years between Pominville, boho, moluson, hunwick. JVR would have been a huge get. He scores with the elite.

Stop counting on Hunwick, he was so bad for the Pens.

He's good, not great. Doesn't go with the speed game we want and wed be tied to him for 7 years or 8m for 5. You give out those contracts once you're good, not in a desperate attempt to get there.

I'm 100% fine with our current roster for next year. I'd rather we got Grabner, Ryan or Duclair today. I'd take Neal on for 3 years, not 6. Still, these big UFA deals work out about as much as they don't it seems. The right deal wasn't there...

I really like the Hutton signing.

What did GMTM give away that would move the needle for this team if still here? He proved capable of being able to cultivate relationships with other GM's in the league. Not everybody has it. Not everybody gets it.
