Maybe It is taking so long because JT signed with NYR and is scared to announce it.......I know..I'm dreaming, but that would be hilarious

Maybe it's taking JT so long to decide because he is actually trying to read one of Saver's posts as opposed you just stabbing himself in the eye

Per Buccigross: Source tells me James van Riemsdyk will sign a 5 year deal with @NHLFlyers. 7 million dollar cap number
- airjan23

Frank Servalli & James Duthie also reported the exact same numbers for JVR/Philly.

If so, it would have been due to a sudden change in their rebuild plan through at least now, and going back to a retool/rebuild combo one at the least.

Since it’s after midnight JT can only get 7 years correct?

After finally gaining some positive press with Lou & Trotz it would be typical Islanders to blow it and lose JT to another team now.
- RustyKuntz

If that comes to fruition, with JVR now going to sign back again with Philly, it would leave for now Bozak as both the Isles and Leafs alternate backup plan, until J.T.'s decision is made.

That's unless if he had officially re-signed with the Isles for the 8 year term prior to midnight, with that news not made public yet, with the exception of to the NHL offices.

Re: Sportsnet:
According to Blue Jackets beat writer, Aaron Portzline, Toronto UFA forward, Leo Komarov will not be returning to the Leafs. Both the Blue Jackets and Rangers are interested in signing him.

The Rangers interest in him again is likely due to losing out on Ryan Reaves.

Buffalo sources report that with Ryan O'Reilly staying put through June 30th, the Sabres are responsible for his $7.5M Bonus, despite being allowed to still trade him. It is believed that teams earlier interested in acquiring him, were informed that the price to do so would rise after the July 1st bonus is paid.

I know that, Rusty. I'm sorry if it upset you or others.
But it was meant ONLY for that one member that replied to me, who has this infatuation that Karlsson is the Bobby Orr or Brian Leetch of this era, in addition to wanting to pay high in exchange first to acquire him and Ryan during a now, REBUILD. So I pointed the key facts out to him, along with an alternative on signing Tavares and Kovy, had their plan instead been to contend, as he thinks Karlsson & Ryan will make them do..

Ok. Obviously you don’t read well. I said maybe take Ryan if it lowers the asking price on Karlsson. And of course trading just for EK would depend on what we would have to give up. It’s funny that you’ll argue that we should’ve told Kovy we were going hard at Tavares like that would mean anything. We weren’t on his list of teams he wants to go to. 99% of fans could tell you that was a long shot. They’d also tell you that Ek is easily top 3 in league at his position. And you’d be willing to give away 6.25 mil to a 35 year old that’s been out of the nhl for how long? FYI. Ek has a year left at 7 mil. So even if we took Ryan back, next years salaries would still be a lot lower that JT and Kovy would’ve cost. Once again, we need right D. We don’t need a center

There are much cheaper options to Karlsson to acquire as a RH shooting d'man, while under a REBUILD. Did you read my post above on Larry Brooks' words Saturday night, as to what to expect from the Rangers in free agency? I'll repeat them here:
"The Rangers approach to the OPEN MARKET will be all about THE REBUILD. Get use to it FOR AWHILE."

If the Rangers aren't going to spend on the high salaried players during free agency under a rebuild, then why would they want to trade away many assets to acquire Karlsson and Ryan, with Karlsson wanting to be paid soon as the HIGHEST SALARIED NHL player? That especially so for the reasons I had earlier mentioned, including him possibly becoming a UFA next summer, when you don't have to trade a single piece to sign him, nor be forced to take on Bobby Ryan's $7.25 annual cap hit for 4 more seasons.
Why do you think no one has yet traded for Karlsson? He had also stated that he would not re-sign with Ottawa unless their ownership changes hands.

My last reply. I don’t want Ryan. I was commenting based on rumors. Just like your comments about him wanting to be highest paid and wants new owners. I don’t believe any of that nonsense came directly from him. Karlsson hasn’t been moved probably for same reason as all gm’s are saying. Tavares holding everyone up. Rangers should stay out of free agent frenzy. Nobody really worth signing. Adding mediocre players does nothing but take away spots from younger guys. I’m sure Gorton made some calls on Tavares. He had no interest in coming to Rangers. As far as Brooks goes, he’s just talking out his ass most of the time. Just because you want to keep arguing about a rebuild, you still have to put a competitive team on ice. The Karlsson situation will be settled before season starts. You can keep arguing we can get him next summer, but I guarentee you he doesn’t hit free agency
