Deep with wingers? Karlsson would be a terrible mistake. - nyrangers9479
Who is our top 3 right D???? What prospects do we have??? Not trading for Larlsson would be a mistake!!!! People lack common sense. The guy has already won 2 Norris trophy’s. He’s an elite talent. He’d be perfect leader with all the Euro kids we’ve got. |

Trading for him would be the dumbest thing they could do cmon man...and you say you have common sense ?
Signing him after next season is a completely different story. |

Is it crazy to think since all these contending teams this year go nuts this weekend, sign crazy deals and then have no money for next season..and that leaves the Rangers with oodles of money to sign Karlsson, Panarin and Seguin at least two of them anyway. In the meantime, Trade for Nylander, Trade Zib or Hayes, trade Zucc at the deadline, trade whoever else (IE- Spooner, Nam, Vesey, etc) and insert the kids as needed. Theyd be a contender as soon as 2019/20

Seriously doubt he makes it to free agency. Either Sens give him extension or they trade him now!! Right now we have Shatty,DeAngelo and Pionk as only right handed d men. We have about 10 left handed including prospects. Personally I think Ottowa would be nuts to let him go. If he is available, I guarentee you Gorton will be in on it. Just don’t tell me we shouldn’t because he’s injury prone or too old. Neither apply |

I have nothing against him as player...I just think it’s crazy to give up any assets for him. They can’t afford to trade any assets let alone the amount that it would take to get him. If he signs somewhere else sobeit. He does appear to wanna be a Ranger so he’s just gonna have to wait that part out if that’s the case. If we did a trade like that, I’d rather trade for Panarin (same scenario). But theyre currently trying to amass assets, certainly not looking to lose any
The LHD thing drives me nuts too but don’t compound that by trading for a soon to be UFA. That’s bad mgmt |

I’m kind of the opposite in these situations. I can’t blame him for going over this decision with a fine tooth comb. It’s a lot bigger decision then just hockey related things. Hes technically not even late with this decision yet in the age of no tweeter or internet and crazy media attention etc, it wouldn’t even be a big deal yet
He is holding up the hockey world tho, but what can you do. He doesn’t give a frank about that |

Regarding Karlsson, please tell me who the last 29+ year old that signed a big contract worked out. Maybe the first few years it’s good, but after 3/4 years it’s downhill. |

Ryan Reaves is staying in Vegas. After discussions with multiple teams, including extensive talks with Calgary, he’s agreed to a 2 yr deal. |

At some point they’re gonna have do that with someone, especially RHD, so it’s like who do you give it to. Not sure if you’d have a better opportunity to get a better player down the road |

It's quite simple really:
a) You get lucky and draft a superstar
b) You trade away a 1st or two... AND your top prospects to get one
c) You pay a ~28 y/o handsomely and then some for waaay too long...
aaand d) A combination of b and c... |

It appears to me, Taveras is giving the Isles every opportunity to meet his requirements in order to stay, and it probably has nothing to do with money. |

Agreed.
I just think he goes to Toronto or San Jose. Can't blame him either, Isles pissed away too many chances to be taken seriously.

Can’t say it enough. If they are moving him, he controls who he plays for. That will be a team that gives him an extension. I really don’t see him getting to where Tavares is. Too much has happened in Ottowa. Either he’s re signing or he wants out before season. Also, as I’ve already mentioned. If you have “assets”, there all not going to end up playing for Rangers. We’re. very thin on right side. If you have an over abundance of players the same age and position, you can only dress so many. I guess it all depends on what we’d have to give up |
