I see the LE contract a less of a hindrance in the big picture. The upcoming E-draft helps maybe along with his contract was front loaded & appeals to teams at the cap floor. As each year passes on our climb to resoectability is in our favour. All said LE has this year & only this year to turn it around or he is the MAJOR screw up for JB most believe it to be.
- Nighthawk

Can somehow they put LE in a position to succeed a bit more and maybe find a taker at the TDL.

There is nothing wrong with Gagners contract .

Canuck signed three UFas last year. MDZ comes off the book this year and will probably be traded for a fourth rounder.

Gagner comes off the book next year . What you are missing is Sutter can now be traded at TDL for a first round pick to a playoff team and Gagner can hold the fort for one year with Vet leadership.

Like I said complaining about nothing

Well said 👍

I can't for the life of me, figure out what he would bring to the team. Unless they are going to trade Sutter.
- manvanfan

Green was consulted on the UFA moves last year, I'm sure he has a say in this one too and has a role in mind for Beagle.

I don't like this contract, mainly due to the term but I was so worried about Bozak or Nash signing for big bucks at 4 years that I'm actually relieved now lol.

I personally don't think Sutter is worth a 1st, or even a 2nd, but I tend to undervalue Canucks players pretty bad. If we can deal Sutter for something, and then sign a less expensive version of him in Beagle, sure, why not.

A team on a cup run gets a late 1st round pick & if a 3C shutdown PK player can be had it makes total sense.

All to true. Ppl here see his stop gap signing as a negative but ignore we are niwhere bear making any serious noise for 2-3 years minimum. Look at the 3-5yr plan as a reality instead of the next 2yrs.
- Nighthawk

3-5 year plan if you keep signing plugs to 3 year deals.

you guys won't have anything to sell at the deadline ...again.

Agreed. I could see him fetching a late 1st since it's so hard to find C's.

I am not going to debate LE contract . My mama told me if you ever come across someone that thinks that LE is a good contract , then you walk away , you walk away fast, because that person is pure crazy.

So just to patch it all together

Benning "we want to be faster and younger. We want to emphasize speed and skill"

Benning in free agency - targets Beagle, Reaves, Maroon..

Lol this team

Thats a stretch. Wait til the dust settles 1st after the tire kicking is done by all the teams.

Hopefully 1 or even both of MDZ/Tanev. Forwards are pretty bare, unless Sutter is dealt, there isn't much to sell

Unless it's for a league Min. I'd rather have Lucic and his contract.

It's 2.5 for 3 years?

I'm sure there is a role for him. Same role he plays in Washington probably. Win the face-off and get it out, get off the ice. PK role.

For free agents, I wouldn't say no to anyone. I'd take any free agent for the right price and term.

For that too happen a C would have to stand out & help him a ton. Is that Sutter? Hardly. AG? thats a reach. It falls onto ZLE to do it himself.

tough though...you need 4-5 guys to sell.

it's invertible that one guy gets injured or one guy has a bad season. if your banking on 2...you get (frank)ed.

now's the time to find a couple more.

The way his contract is structured it's not insane to think he could be traded this year or next to a cap floor team if we retain salary

Someone going to pay Reaves 1.5?? for 10 points a year. If Lucic scores 40 for 6 per season. It's the same.

- manvanfan

It's not at all the same, Lucic takes up a bigger % of your total cap, preventing you from signing high level players to offset his pooptiness.

If you are saving the cap space to sign better players then Reaves and his 10 points don't even make the team most likely.
