I heard something about him sitting out, but I think it was here, so not certain if it's accurate.

The Blue's guy got called out by one of the St Louis Athletic guys, and Hamilton really threw him under the bus. Hamilton later deleted it.

Thomas is sitting out because he had a long season and they want to make sure he is ready to go in September

Im not saying Thomas will be the piece that gets moved, but You have to give to get.

If it doesn't sting a little bit to see what you gave up, that is considered a fleecing.

I don't see that happening here.

Until this all gets resolved, its all speculation.

I wonder , since that one was considered compliance, if they just paid it all up front and are done with it.

I wonder if that is allowed.

I cant wait for the day that NHL contracts are not fully guaranteed.

Be like the NFL, the only thing that counts in a release is Bonus money, not actual salary

Neither do the Sabres.

the Blues obviously want him, and are bidding against other teams, so again, until we know what (IF) the return is, its all speculation.

Sheary makes me nervous. Kinda like he will be Leino 2.0. Thankfully we didn't spend a 6th on him and it was only a 3/4.

He’s what gerbe was supposed to be when you have heart and skill nothing will stop you

Leino Had no heart or skill

I am optimistic for Hutton. I think he will give us some good starts while simultaneously pushing Ullmark to take his game to the next level and challenge for the #1.

You guys are all saying ROR has to go

there goes some of Botterills leverage no?

It will be a trade similar to the Ryan Miller trade

A roster player + mid prospect + first

I'm ok with him, has played decently for last 4 -5 years, outstanding last year.
I'd prefer a 2 year deal with a 3rd at the option of the Sabres...dont really see those type of contracts in the NHL though.
He made what $1.5 last couple years, give him $3.2.

We may all say it, but what we say has nothing to do with what the market is set at.

Miller was a UFA goalie that had to be resigned ion the back end of his career.

ROR is a Top 6 center with 5 years remaining in the prime of his career.

If you think that is all it takes, either you or I is going to be very disappointed in this trade.

Three things the NHL needs.

Club/player option contracts.
Non - fully guaranteed contracts.
Limit the NTC/NMC clause to years in league. AKA you don't get one until you have 5 years in the league. 5 Years 10 teams, 8 years 12 teams, 10 years full NTC/NMC

As long as Thomas is not in the trade and you take Sobotka I will be happy

Parayko is great but he can be replaced he isn't Pietrangelo

Sorry, I would not take a mid prospect personally.
And I would insist on Parayko, one of Thomas or Kyrou, and 2019 1st.
Would include Nylander and our 4th in 2019

If nkt, I am very good with keeping ROR here no need to trade him at all

I think its going to be a bigger trade with multiple pieces from each team changing hands.

Buffalo is doing a massive favor by paying ROR a $6.5MM bonus July 1 so STL does not have to. That will have to account for something.

Again, we shall wait and see, if it happens at all.

He's a net negative for the Sabres. Including him means the rest of the deal has to improve, which means thomas
