He's a net negative for the Sabres. Including him means the rest of the deal has to improve, which means thomas - jcragcrumple
They can take Zach Bogosian for free |

Three things the NHL needs.
Club/player option contracts.
Non - fully guaranteed contracts.
Limit the NTC/NMC clause to years in league. AKA you don't get one until you have 5 years in the league. 5 Years 10 teams, 8 years 12 teams, 10 years full NTC/NMC - ImThatGuy
I really can't stand these aspects of the NBA and NFL. It makes contract negotiations a frivolous exercise. The whole idea behind a contract is finality that represents a mutual meeting of the two contracting parties minds...
Player X signs a 7 year deal worth $150 mil....but its only guaranteed for a year.....that's (frank)ing stupid.
Or, Player X signs a 4 year deal worth $85 mil...but he has to hope and pray the team picks up the 4th year of his deal.
Fully guaranteed contracts for the length of the contracts provides the players with stability instead of being bought and sold like cattle. And the owners already have trades, buyouts, and waivers to remedy a contract that doesn't work out. |

I was just answering the question
BTW the blues don't need to make this deal it would be nice but DA wont get taken advantage of either - sycsam
It's not like we're trading you Girgensons.
You know what you're getting with ROR. 20-25 goals, 55-60 points, never loses a draw. I don't think DA is being taken advantage of, as he knows exactly what he's trading for. |

That's bullpoop. Drilling holes through your leg multiple times is never a good thing that makes you stronger.
Like I said, it's mostly a mental issue. It has nothing to do with how stable the knee is. And a lot of guys never get over it. - Wetbandit1

Sheary makes me nervous. Kinda like he will be Leino 2.0. Thankfully we didn't spend a 6th on him and it was only a 3/4. - soljor09

You guys are all saying ROR has to go
there goes some of Botterills leverage no?
It will be a trade similar to the Ryan Miller trade
A roster player + mid prospect + first - sycsam
You are correct. WE, the hockeybuzz posters, are saying ROR has to go.
Botts is not.
Botts is not shopping him. Teams are calling him. There's your difference. |

Or you have guys like Leino, Ehrhoff, etc etc, that get their massive payday and then just "Lose their love for the game"
It goes both ways. non fully guaranteed contracts would open all new avenues for trades.
Or the GM's can stop being idiots, but I dont see that happening. something has to change. |

Player X is under contract and is playing like poop. He has two choices...go play for the Amerks, or be in breach of contract and don't get paid. Simple.
You make that the rule and add a "good faith effort to trade" clause into the contracts, and you have solved your issue while still giving the player some stability in his life. |

I think its going to be a bigger trade with multiple pieces from each team changing hands.
Buffalo is doing a massive favor by paying ROR a $6.5MM bonus July 1 so STL does not have to. That will have to account for something.
Again, we shall wait and see, if it happens at all. - ImThatGuy
I saw the bonus payment this year is actually $7.5m, and then a salaffy of $1m, but the cap hit isn"only" $7.5m |

I want wingers. I'd take a shot on Fabbri before Sobotka. At least there's upside. Parayko is meh for me. Thomas and Fabbri is where it's at |

Because Fabbri is only 22 and a really good winger. He scores at a better P/60 rate than ROR
Knee issues are a concern but if you can get him cheap he is absolutely worth a look. |
