I think Ottowa would be crazy to trade him, but yeah... Rangers should be interested. You really need to look long term and adding 1 superstar dman will not hurt ... we are one of few teams with surplus of assets and capspace. Long and short term. With Lundquist in net, and a ton of young Swedes, makes perfect sense. This isn’t a move to win cup next year, but an opportunity to lock up one of the best players in the league for next 6,7,8 years.

Why traded for him? As of right now he's a UFA in 12 months. Rangers are invested in this rebuild. Trading Chytil, Skjei, Kravtsov and 1st for Karlsson is beyond dumb.

Of course it doesn't make sense. The Ranges don't have a #1 center, winger or D-man...yet. Plus Lundqvist is 37. Trading for Kalrsson doesn't make them a contender, not in the East or even the Metro.
