Olaf and the Kravtsov vs Whalstrom pick
- rrentz

Genuinely not breaking balls here, but if Wahlstrom turns out to be a star and Kravtsov doesn't...that's gonna be a frequent painful reminder of what a mistake they made.

So it'll be 2010, 2006 and 2003 all over again. Nothing new.

And if Kravtsov turns into a star, and Wahlstrom doesn't ... that's gonna be a frequent awesome reminder of what an awesome pick they made.

IMO...that is the two picks that will be evaluated for years to come. Either way Whalstrom will light it up against NYR

I do think that Kravtsov will be great though...He just rose up laddeer too late for us to know who/what he is . Whalstrom was a known entity for a while

It’s very similar to the Darnold and Barkley picks. Do the Giants regret passing on him only to have the B team in town reap the benefits. I personally woulda taken Darnold only because the life span for a RB is very short

Yeah, although I can kind of understand passing on someone who has perceived character issues. I have absolutely no clue whether or not that's the case, but there's obviously some whispers out there that he does so it's worth mentioning.

Holy hell though, I was watching some of his highlights the other night...that kid has wheels and can shoot the puck better than most forwards. If he puts it together between the ears...he could be a lethal offensive defenseman.

Jokes aside, that sucks for you that he de-committed from UM. He would have been great there.

Sort of, I guess. I don't know half as much about football, but I liked the Barkley pick. I wasn't sold on any of the quarterbacks so I was more than happy to take the superstar running back.

I'm sure to take fire for saying this after posting that picture, but did you see his quads in that picture from that golf outing?

Goalies drafted in the 1st or 2nd round since 2010 that have made any kind of impact in the NHL

Gibson
Vasilesky

Just a dumb pick at 39 no matter how you slice it. Even if you get it right goalies are 5 years away from playing in the NHL, you can’t project guys that far out.

Not really related, but looking back the 2005 draft produced:

- Carey Price
- Tuukka Rask
- Jonathan Quick
- Ben Bishop

Go back to 2007 2008 and 2009 you can add the great Jake Allen. That’s 10 years of goalies in the 1st or 2nd round, 3 have panned out so far......

I made the point recently, even if you wait to grab a goalie, you can’t tell me Allaire couldn’t make that guy just as good if Olof goes before that. The only sound reason you take a goalie in the first place is if you think the Russian will suck or won’t come here. By all accounts he doesn’t suck

we had a couple of our own misses in that time in Halverson and Lafleur

what kills me is the team is loaded in net with prospects already

still baffling to me

I honestly think with goalies, you have to draft about 5 of them into your system and just hope that one hits eventually.
