After thinking about that Sportsnet article, I think Botterill would trade O'Reilly for 2019 picks. I can see how having 3 first round picks would appeal to him. It does nothing for me, and I think it's the wrong move, but I think he would. I can't believe he doesn't feel any pressure to win now.

3 first round picks doesn't help us for years. I get the argument against "rushing the rebuild," but he should be looking for hockey trades imo. A pick in the range of 13-18 next year would just be awful for my enthusiasm for this team, and I'm sure others.

The feelings of the fans is not his problem, and I get that. Basically this all comes down to Murray squandering everything he was given. So (frank) that guy for leaving us - incredibly, somehow - in a worse position than when he began.

Ugh, it's gonna be a long (frank)ing summer and season if they trade ROR for 2019 picks. (frank).

Picks may be included but it won't be for just picks.

Couple things, just cause he was willing to move ROR for picks in 2018 does not mean he would do it for 2019 unless it was a top prospect and a 2019 1st. It would not be the main piece of the deal.

Also, the appeal of getting a 2019 pick now would be the hope it is not lottery protected (but what team would really do that), meaning only if top 3. Looking at the Canadians, I do a 2019 1st and a top prospect or two from them for sure. They are going to be bad again.

I think there are deals to be made, like ROR to Ottawa for something of value, maybe Duchene (post July 1st, to ensure he would sign a new contract), because there is no way Duchene signs back in Ottawa at the end of this year. Maybe even Karlsson if you throw in more, like SJS 1st and something more still (again, only if post July 1st and understanding he would resign here).

Heard Chicago might want another top center, but not sure who I would even want back from them in that type of deal.

Vegas? (if they strike out on all other deals they are looking to make)

Two dumpster players. Hard pass. Faska is ok and Honka is developing poorly. Erod>Faska.
- TheSabresTaco

I don't think I want either of those players, just mentioning that they would want to move out salary when bringing in a guy with a $7.5m cap hit.

One would have to think that Botts is aggressively asking for a top 6 LW in return.

Nice rant, Ror is not enough to make or break any teams season. Moving him could alter the culture of the room though. I think we undervalue what Mitts can do at this position compared to what Ror has been doing.

As for futures, they are a win/win. He could use them to draft high quality, young, cost controlled players, or use as trade assets. I see more value in futures than keeping Ror, even short term.

I think the attractiveness of the 2019 pick hinges on the specific trade partner.
I'd move him to Montreal for their 2019 1st, with no contingencies.
That likely gives the Sabes 2 picks in top 10 ... which could be packaged to move down if desired...to where who knows ...maybe to 4OA. Not bad.

If it is St. Louis, I'd be hesitant as it would presumptively be something in the mid-twenties...which isn't worth it to me.

He wants talent for talent, people can say what they want but ROR is a real good player and teams do have interest in him. That bonus seems to be one of the hold ups another is, just haven't found the right deal.

Robby Fabbri is not a nothing player, lets clear that up.

He was becoming a staple on the top two lines for St Louis before his knee injury.

Fabbri,Berglund(Shelters Middlestadt),and another piece prospect like Kyrou is a hell of a deal for ROR.

Blues need to stop (frank)ing around and stop offering Ennis Weber and a 3rd

If we think it's a hell of a deal, it probably won't happen. Pare it down until you're like

"..ok."

Then, it's a fair deal.

Then again, we have no need to trade him. Botts just 'wants' to trade him. I would think that if anything, we should end up pleased with the deal, but it won't be some massive win.

I'd rather play Girgensons on the second line LW and deal with his 15 goals then trade RoR for Fabbri

Athens guy is solid, I don’t think he fits in here

Helm would be best friends with Larsson

Hronek? Never heard of him

Hronek is a RD prospect they took in the second rd a few years ago, developing nicely in AHL

HE scores at a higher rate than ROR does. (Points Per 60)

He would ride Jacks LW or second line LW.

He would free up cap space for additional signings/contracts.

Hes 22.

You could then sign Duclair and have two young, fast cost controlled LW.

Not debating Fabbri's talent.
Just the injury...tore ACL twice, is a bit concerning.
Can anyone guarantee he recovers to 95%+ of his pre-injury capability skating wise?
There is risk there for sure.
