You realize Kane, a lesser player, got $7M per for 7 years right?

Then watches Isles win the cup while in the hunt.
- 51_Killer

I feel like their offense is on par and can light the lamp up but their goaltending and defense are both subpar. Leddy and Pulock are solid top 4 guys.

If I was gonna chase a cup... I'd be signing with TB or SJ if I was him.

I said this the other day as well. I'd take him on a 1 year deal for a mid round pick.

I haven't backread, but for those thinking Sam is going to only get like $3M you're on (frank)ing drugs, JT Miller just signed for 5 years and $26.5M. For 23 goals and 58 points between the Rangers and Lightning. Sam had 25 and 50 for the Sabres. Sam is also 3 years younger.

Whoever said this earlier is 100% correct.

The real fans who understand the process and what GMTM did wrong will stick around.

We might lose some bandwagon fans for a year or two while a correct rebuild happens but they will be right back at it when the rebuild takes off.

So - we can rush the rebuild make a big jump next year to get 1-2 years of bangwagon revenue

or

rebuild the right way lose some bandwagon revenue and then rake it in for the following 8 years of a young contending team

- Shadman306

Oh that's what the real fans understand? Got it. You must not be from Buffalo then because if you were, you'd understand that pretty much nothing has ever gone as planned like ever. "Real fans" is such a cop out argument. Similar to someone insisting someone's else's opinion being ignorant.

I appreciate GMTM for all he tried to make happen. Don't think he was given a fair shake. Probably because he was too brash and spoke his mind. Hopefully Botts' style proves to be methodical and not lethargic.

If he’s askiing for 8m and that’s the only reason why he hasn’t been moved I doubt he will lower his price

No player will ever take that deal.
The agent in PA fight against this all the time.

I suggested somethign similar with CArlson but on a 2 year and then long term.

Why would a player risk losing out on a fully guaranteed 88MM contract. to get 15MM.

In the case of Tavares its 3MM less this year V 73MM total guaranteed difference.

Seems silly.

So you expect James Neal to take vet min. and be off the team before Mitts, Dahlin need to sign?
- CoHo_to_B-Lo

I'm shocked and amazed that some fan with a hockey IQ as high as yours would've chose to incorporate Cody Hodgson in their user name. You are on another level.

I was referring to your not even giving him $6M, when a lesser player got $7M.

2yx4m is what I thought. Was kind of surprised Miller got so much, especially Tampa. Is this the Kool Aid talking?

He did and was on the wrong side of the Stanley Cup finals 3 straight years doing it if I remember right??

Didn't he flip back and forth between DET/PIT and lost in the cup finals each year?

Do you think teams factor in other intangibles like:
Consistency
Toughness
Line mates
Being a proven winner
Effort and attitude
Substance abuse issues

Or is it just points?

Sam has averaged 20+ goals his first 3 years in the league, seems pretty consistent. Toughness is idiotic for a scoring winger, should contribute nothing to salary, JT Miller played in NY and Tampa, he had great linemates, Miller has won absolutely nothing, effort and attitude are in the eye of the beholder, I see Sam standing out front getting his ass kicked, that's both effort and toughness, substance abuse issues are totally unsubstantiated, and how would we know if JT Miller doesn't also have the same alleged issues?

Edit: Sam has also increased his point total every year.

Your pretty much wrong across the board.

Did Edmonton pay lucic for just his scoring?
Consistency is important, but you left that out.
Jt Miller hasn't won the cup, but has won more than "absolutely nothing"
Hes made the playoffs every year?

And
Jt Miller never fell back in scoring since being in the league. Same or better for the past 7 years of nhl play ( few games the first 2 years)

Something was going on with sam regardless of the allegations

And lehner sucks. You were wrong

Go back and look at the post someone made with the assets GMTM gave up and what came back and then tell me he didnt get a fair shake.

He tried to kick the rebuild into overdrive and got taken behind the shed on every single trade he made.

You can appreciate his ability to pull the trigger on trades, but the only reason a lot of those happened is because we overpaid on all of them.
