It sounds like Botterill said yes to #10 and 2 seconds. Idk if that's "beating down the door." Probably not. That seems like a modest return to me - jcragcrumple
I think it was #11. I’ll have to check the analytics |

I think that was good value, but easy to see why Lou backed out. |

But aren't they more likely to keep him after the bonus is paid? - Powerslave
Not necessarily, the return may be more if the Sabres pay it. He won't give him away but everyday this goes on it looks like there might be no going back. I think the deal with the Habs may have gone down if he didn't ask for the 3rd. |

Yeah. AZ’s wacky pick put a wrench into that. |

If the o'reilly deal really hinged on the July 1st signing bonus could buffalo just agree to pay it before July 1st??? |

Oh my god, I think I and maybe 1 or 2 other people said it literally right after he got fired and none of us has said anything since and a few people took it and ran with it.

Sure. I enjoy the spirit of debate, though.
I agree with you too; once we start winning, it's gonna be a lot more fun around here. I started lurking in 2014, and didn't make an account til 2016, so I would like to see this place in good times. I have faith for this year - jcragcrumple
I like your optimism
And I’m sure we will be better
Lots of question marks still though
Likely that they all won’t work in our favor
So we’ll just have to see how much improved we are
I’m happy to see some kids finally about to get a legit shot |

And that's the problem. It's what makes them no better than the eye-test, because they can (almost)always be explained away, hence the Disraeli quote.
Honestly I think Girgensons gets a bad rap. He doesn't fall nearly as much as people say he does. The thing with Girgensons is he doesn't produce when put with talent, Ristolainen does. - Wetbandit1
We also see the faults of our players on a nightly basis, which magnified the “hate”
And when we see players on other teams only a handful of times, their faults aren’t as obvious
I think many of us are overly harsh on our own players
Emotion works both ways |

What is zadarov, girgo, compher and a 2nd worth?
Is it worth less then mcgin, (2) 2nds and 10th overall
Seams pretty even.
Hope they move ror for a player this year if at all |

What is the Sabres cap hit of they pay ror's bonus?
7.5? |

In 2018-19, O'Reilly will earn a base salary of $1,000,000 and a signing bonus of $7,500,000, while carrying a cap hit of $7,500,000. - homiedclown
Wow , thank you.
So we would be on the hook for 6.5.
Maybe he trades ror for a couple young guys or draft picks.
I'd keep him, if he is the problem, then move him |

Not sure what the point of this is. The rules are the rules. Contract says the bonus is to be paid on x date, it's not flexible. No coincidence that the date is first day of the new league year.
