185 so they say and yes I would think Frost could play at 180 or 185, I think being 6' 190 would be possible
- wcorvette

Pretty sure Simmonds is around 180 as well.

yup 185, some people just have that metabolism where they won't gain weight beyond what they are, you never know but this league fits smaller, lighter players as well as bigger ones.

I don't know. I don't hate him but i also think he needs to show more. I wouldn't be against a player for player swap if I got a winger that could have higher upside and brings different skills.
- J35Bacher

I'd question why a team would trade a player with a higher upside for Laughton in a player for player swap.

Part of me thinks Laughton hasn’t been 100% given the opportunity to show more. I know he has a decent amount of NHL games but he did suffer two bad concussions. This year it seemed Haks glued him to the 4th line and towards the conclusion of the season was switched back to wing after spending all of the previous season playing center. He low-key has a solid wrist shot that I don’t think he’s utilized enough.

So whether you weigh 180 or 190, if you can play, you can play. I don't think we should arbitrarily pick a weight out and say he has to add it to his frame in order to become a good NHL player. Added weight would be great but not a necessity.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd really like to take a shot at Athanasiou. Detroit will have a hard time signing him after Larkin (probably a hefty long-term deal), Mantha and, probably, Green.

Before signing those 3, they have 15 players under contract with ~$20M to play with. No backup goalie, either.

He is an RFA so it would take either an offer sheet or a trade to acquire him.

Because maybe they prefer Laughton the center and what he brings to Virtanen the winger and what he brings.

Galchenyuk for Domi? Teams saw different things that they preferred which made the trade happen.

Don't see how that is taking into account the higher upside aspect. That is the fly in the ointment I see. Similar skilled players and a position difference or a change in scenery type of deal I can see.

I have a weird feeling he might really push for a spot. If they don't want to go out and give long term deals to FA then they have to find an inhouse option and Frost could be that guy. Looking in the system is there anyone that is really taking that role?

Yep. I know the DET hasn't released their list of players who got QOs yet, but I'd imagine he did. After going to arbitration last year, I'd imagine he's looking for another decent raise. Probably around $3.5M+ for 2-3 yrs. I just don't see how the wings can afford it right now. I'd offer sheet him. It'd cost a 2nd rounder, but he's a solid 3C who can kill penalties and pop in 15-20.

I don't. I think it's pretty much a guarantee he's going back.

Long term is relative. Hextall already gave a 4 year deal to Weise.

Never know but I don't see it happening. In order for an offer sheet to work you have to overpay a player for it to work. Plus it's bad business.

An all left handed defense and a penalty machine, great.

Not much different than a 1 RHD and a Penalty/Suspension Machine.

I definitely agree. I don't see an offer sheet happening, but it would be good value all the same. Honestly, I'd go so far as to offer Neuvirth and take on the Weiss buyout for the next 3 years. It might be an unpopular decision, but given the cap situation over the next few years, I think we could weather that storm.

Ya, he's going back. Hexy will want to give him every opportunity to play for Canada at the WJC. That experience will be seen as being more valuable than sitting out 25-30 games.

of course it is not a necessity, some people just can't gain weight, Simmonds appears to be a good example of that I believe. Do I think it would good if at 6' Frost hit 190? sure do. He put on 10 since his draft, he could add more, 185 probably but if 180 is it, then that is it.

What was Hexy's best FA signing...? Wesie? Umberger/Hartnell trade? Who am I forgetting, Flip? Sighh

I've seen this dude pop up a lot on my twitter feed being RT by people. I also saw he thanked incarcerated bob for following him so I assume he's a nobody who just tweets like he's an insider?

Edit: If I'm way off base, please correct me. But seeing him thank incarcerated bob leads me to assume he's full of it.

thought Frost put on some weight and was around 180, still needs to add another 8-10

- FlyersGrace

Shouldn't have gotten rid of him in the first place. Flyers always remind me of that kid at GameStop buying, trading in, and rebuying games.

Right before he was dealt, you could start to see the glimpses of what this kid could be.

As for bringing him back, I'm not eager to bring him back but they definitely could use secondary scoring help.

So he still doesnt need to add another 8-10 then as you said in your previous post to be clear.

Where do you slot JVR if he comes back? I mean he wasn't happy at 3rd line previously so do you think he'd be happy coming here then if Lindblom breaks out he gets bumped back down to 3rd...
