Just my opinion but don't sleep on Stolie. If we move (Oh God please!!) Nuevy, I could see Elliot and Stolie being the tandem and Lyon and Hart in AHL. Stolie impressed in his time with big club. The injury derailed that. He is back and feeling good so if he has a good camp he may get the nod ahead of Lyon. He was originally ahead of Lyon before the injury. As much as I want to see him, I'd be okay with Hart spending the entire season in AHL. If there is an injury, bring Lyon up who has proven to be a capable back-up/fill-in as needed. 2018-2019 is another "building" year.

I also believe that Patrick is our 1C in a season or two (as well as an alternate captain). Coots moves down to 2C or 3C where he is still effective.

I think Frost is going to be a good one, but I don't see him making the jump just yet. He still needs to put on some muscle. And I also don't see him as a 3C.

I'm in favor of the low pressure 3C for the rookies. He will not be there long term. A year at 3C won't hurt.

5'11" at 170 lbs is light...

I see Frost as a wing option as well. I know he was good on faceoffs last year in the OHL, but he may have trouble against stronger pros.

I tend to agree. Both have 50-60 games in the AHL. We don't have a strong chance of a cup next year... give the kids a shot and experience. Let them make their mistakes on a down season. How much damage can they do at 3C?

I expect the most usual free agency. We sign a depth player who likely sees time between the Phantoms and Flyers. Hextall is not changing his game plan. He doesn’t believe in free agency.

So glad someone said it. I personally can't stand him. Guess I haven't forgiven him for headhunting.

Me thinks as long as Couturier is here, he'll be the 1C.

Good point... But, I would still warm him up in the NHL with a season on the third line as well as a season or two in the minors. Hex doesn't seem to be the type to bring people up before they're ready. And, with the good prospect pool - there is no need to bring them up early.

Repost from last thread. This is annoying me

hey bill or anyone, I remember reading Ustimenko's mom or dad or something died earlier in the season. Does anyone else recall this? A Flyers prospect definitely had to take time away from the game because of the death of someone close. Forget who it was for sure though

It was a number of months ago

Anyone?

Anyone willing to take a look at Hartnell for a bottom 6 role? Or is that overkill because you already have Weise? Would have to be honest and let him know what his role would be, 3-4 line type. 1 year at 1 million? Just a thought. I still think i would prefer someone like Roussel who can kill penalties.

I believe that to be false. When the timing is right, Hextall will very much believe in free agency.

In all honesty this isn't a great FA class.

There are some name guys but some are on downside of career or injuries. Lots of bottom 6 forwards.

I do wonder if there is a move to be made like Laughton for say just an example Jake Virtanen. Two guys that haven't really taken off. Both first round choices. Maybe Vecchione fills a 4th line role and getting a natural winger like Virtanen is betther then having Laughton.

thought Frost put on some weight and was around 180, still needs to add another 8-10

I don't remember man. I know someone had a heart attack young and died and someone had to step away from the game for a week or so. I remember commenting on it. Don't remember who the prospect was

I agree it is not a thick FA class but this might be the new norm. I do think there are plenty of options for Hextall to make the Flyers better this season with FA's or trades, he need to do it and I actually think he will.

just seeing Laughton and Vecchione listed really is a good reminder of how much depth the Flyers have. They just have important positional needs, 3c, goalie and a D. Some of that could be filled in-house, Laughton, Vecchione or Sanheim could have huge years but they still need to fill 1-2 holes from outside

I don't know. I don't hate him but i also think he needs to show more. I wouldn't be against a player for player swap if I got a winger that could have higher upside and brings different skills.

185 so they say and yes I would think Frost could play at 180 or 185, I think being 6' 190 would be possible
