Georgi looked great at the end of the season. There is no way the Rangers should be shopping for a goalie.
- mdw7413

I agree, and even Valliquette said at the end of last season, that Georgiev's game is NHL ready to be Hank's backup for 20 to 25 games.
But there is this worry over Hank's first in line, heir apparent in Shestyorkin that I mentioned two reasons why, along with Valliquette's worry, as to why they may not want to uphold Georgiev's further progression and development from playing regularly as the #1 starter in Hartford. So maybe Georgiev is now considered by them to be the favorite to succeed Hank here.

Tavares would be an idiot to leave the Isles now, that being said I'm praying to Tom's god of Allah that this happens
- KreiderBomb

the only thing the Islanders have going for them in this is the 8 years

but if Toronto wants to do that 15 million one year thing, then give him a new 8 year deal in January, seems very sly

if Lamierello really wants to impress me, he'd get a first rounder for JT from one of these team's courting him for his rights.

Then, sign Tavares to a balloon one year deal July 1st.

Then give him an 8 year come January and all the bagels he wants.

That would be Ninja Lamierello.

Why would you trade for his rights now? Teams can talk to him now.

I thought there was a date the player had to be your property by to be eligible for that?

Found it

https://www.sportsnet.ca/...-gonchar-ufa-rfa-stamkos/

For a marquee UFA like Stamkos, only the team that holds his rights at the most recent trade deadline can re-sign him to an eight-year contract, so the temptation of an extra year is a non-factor in acquiring negotiating rights.

Yeah couple that with the talking period and you see why rights for UFAs are never traded anymore.

San Jose didn't qualify this guy, he was getting decent minutes for them

Any updates on prospects from today? Also, I just saw Patrik Virta signed with the KHL. Seemed to be a pretty decent late round pick/overager from last year. Does this mean he's never coming over?

I think they'd still have the opportunity to sign him after his KHL season is over, March-ish

If Duclair isn’t qualified any downside to bringing him back and hoping he turns it around? He had a good year with AZ that one year, only 23 years old in August.

16g's in his last 114 games. I would say the good season was an anomaly.

This offseason blows...the biggest move we are going to make is signing a 4th line winger

But what’s the harm at signing him to a show me contract at 23 years old?

I don’t know. He kind of sucks. Think he’s already shown that. I’m personally not interested in seeing him back.

I mean yeah, it won't hurt to sign him I would rather see someone in the organization probably get that spot though. imo
