I think offering to take Steve Mason off Winnipeg's hands for an asset is a great idea - jimbro83
How about Hutton, Hutchinson, or Lehner as additional options that would also be an improvement over the recent seasons injured, Pavelec. Hutton, however, has garnered supposedly a lot of interest, with Chicago leading the way according to what I became aware of earlier today, with them now leaning possibly away from bringing back Scott Darling there.
But Mason is also a good option under that means, since he has played many games formerly against the Metro. Div. while with the Flyers and Blue Jackets even earlier.

I really dont care about acquiring a backup that will help the team as much as I am thinking about using our cap space to our advantage to add more assets
I think Lundqvist is playing 60+ games next year no matter what, like always either way

I was thinking about the backup being reliable for both to help this team win, as well as to help keep Hank fresher down the stretch for possible playoff contention, and thereafter, should they have a successful in part, retool of their roster as well. Hank would have to be held to 55 to 60 regular season starts to do that going into this season alone at age 36.

You know the crazy thing, if Zadina slipped to 9 in the draft, I don't think the Rangers would have drafted him. I think they still would have went to Kravtsov. And then the board really would have exploded. - Pete V
Gorton was quoted as saying Kravtsov was their #2 forward on their board.

Georgi looked great at the end of the season. There is no way the Rangers should be shopping for a goalie.
A retool of your roster starts with adding the equivalent to Lidstrom, Shanny, Yzerman and Gordie. You can have Smith as well for the price of his full remaining contract.
